almond kitchen cabinets

i'm not a big fan but we're renting...not a big kitchen and needs to be repainted. I don't want to make it too dark but i'd like a spash of color. any ideas? the floor is ceramic tile speckle pattern. The cabinets are that almond color with oak color handles & counter. Thanks.

We had almond color cabinets in my old house. We went with that color because it was a small kitchen and we planned on selling the house within two years. Turns out it was 6 monthsChat Icon

They are wood and the stain is called Seaspray.
As they are Birch there is not much grain in the wood so they look pretty solid.

Here was a before (original, 1957 knotty pine cabinet... looks a lot better in the pics than in realityChat Icon ) and after.

How about a light mossy green? Or a latte color, about two shades darker than the cabinets?

I had those cabinets in white w/oak in a rental a long time ago. Sage green always looks good with oak & almond, I think that would be your best bet. Its easy to find kitchen towels & acessories to match sage too.

Tahweezah - that looks great!! I don't think i described my cabinets right - mine are beige/almond color and they have oak trim. my counter is oak too. I LOVE the green shades but DH is convinced it would be too much because its small. thanks.

I think the lightest shade of sage would make it feel brighter. If your DH is opposed to color I'd go mono-tone & try to paint one shade darker than the almond color, it will be plain looking though.
