Locatelli Pecorino Romano cheese

DH is making meatballs and sauce and used the last of the romano cheese for the meatballs. I just ran over to Pathmark, the only grocery store open till 4pm and I could NOT believe it! $10 for 8 oz!!!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon I JUST bought some a few weeks ago at Stop & Shop for $7! What the heck??! Chat Icon why did it go up so much?

The only thing I can think of is that if you had a Pathmark card you would get it for less?

It's also Easter and maybe they jack up the prices for the holiday?

nope. I brought it up to the register (and another cheaper brand), I had her scan my card then the cheese - $9.99! that's obscene! no way am I paying $20 a pound for freakin cheese Chat Icon

You can get it at Costco for much less. I buy it and grind it myself!!

I really hope that BJ's sells it. I don't know why I never thought to look. we go through it like crazy around here!

I bought something else today, Gabriella by Lotito pecorino romano cheese Chat Icon I hope it's good. I just could not justify spending $10 on 8 oz Chat Icon

That's why I go into Arthur Ave and buy a huge wedge...it's so much cheaper that way and last forever.

well we tried the Gabriella brand that I bought instead of Locatelli and it was pretty good. at least it wasn't a waste of $
