PSA: Cats + string = BAD

Eddie is ok- I didn't want to keep you guys in suspense while reading the rest of this story.

BUT:

eddie went garbage digging last suday night. josh found the wreckage monday morning.

fast forward to saturday morning. we came back from breakfast and found that eddie had puked fist size clumps of stuff all over the apartment. we realize he ate the netting that had held the turkey breasts together in the oven.

now- i know that cats eating string is bad. i didnt rush him to the vet right then because of the sheer volume of the vomit. i just could not imagine that he had anything left in his stomach. plus, he was eating, drinking, pooping and peeing like normal.

at about 6:30 on saturday night, eddie sat on josh's laptop and threw up AGAIN. it was just a little, but we took him to the brooklyn emergency vet.

they took some xrays, gave him pepcid and pain meds and rehydration stuff. they kept him overnight, and said that they wanted to do a sonogram sunday morning. sonogram looks ok, but they want to observe him one more night to make sure he doesnt throw up again. but he doesnt need surgery, thank god.

eddie should be home tonight.

our home is so empty without him. lydia (his sister) was looking for him. i went to feed her this morning, and she sat in front of eddie's bowl and looked at me. :(

we cant wait to have him back.

So please be careful with string, yarn, tinsel, etc- there is so much of it around this time of year. I don't want anyone else going through this. Chat Icon

I'm so glad he's on the mend Rebecca, and thank you for ending the suspense early!

I stay away from rope toys for that reason now, Brinkley was swallowing the threads he could get off the toy. Chat Icon

Glad he's ok. My Bella did this too and we got the string out of her before it was too late.
