You can add peaks to the roofline - I've seen that done to make it look less boxy.
Did you find a house?!

Check out the third house down on the left....
I really love what they did with this high ranch and the contractor is on LI, so perhaps you could check him out.

wow those look great. I wouldn't mind living in a high ranch if it looked like one of those.

we put a portico similar to this on our high ranch - ours is built into the hillside like this one so not so boxy - the portico definely changes the look
i will be able to post pics soon when it is all sided

Re: what can you do to a high ranch
thanks everyone! I'm not a fan of peaks, I do like this one. (it looks like a third floor though - there are probably ordinances about that?)
Teri - the house we liked sold :( so, I like this location, but not the house, but it's at our very high end, so I don't think I could sink money into anything for a long time.

Hi Where did you find that pic of the high ranch with peaks? I've been looking for ideas too but my roof slants the opposite way. Do you have any other pics like this?? Thanks!
I did a google search on "Hi-Ranch Conversions" or you could try "Hi-Ranch Modifications" or "Hi-Ranch Remodeling." HTH!

Re: what can you do to a high ranch
Alot of time those high windows are just for show in the attic, not actual floors.
That stinks that the other house sold. I know how much you liked it.
