Taking the plunge into the world of IF ...
Well ... we just took the plunge into the world of IF and filled out the contact form on the North Shore LIJ Center for Human Reproduction website. Their doctors take our insurance and it sounds like some of you have had success with them, so that gives me hope.
DH & I are in our early 30s and we have been TTC for a year now using OPKs and temping. Since I have short cycles, this is our 14th cycle. Its been a long, long, long year with the roller coaster of emotions that go along with the disappointment of every BFN and the hope of every new cycle.
It just feels like its time to take the next step & have some tests run. We're not getting younger (as everyone keeps telling us) and maybe there is a treatable reason that we have not had success.
Any advice or guidance you can offer through this process is greatly appreciated ... taking that 1st step was a difficult one for me, and I am holding back some as I write this post.

Re: Taking the plunge into the world of IF ...
Taking the first step IS hard, but you are on your way towards getting some answers, so that is the positive you should be focusing on.
It may be something VERY simple and easily corrected, either way, KNOWING what is going on is better than being in the dark, and puts you closer to your BFP…Llike they say, knowledge is power:)
My advice regarding the initial consult would be to write all your questions down so you don't forget anything and write everything the doc tells you, I know my nerves got to me the first time and I forgot everything the man said the second I walked out the door
Discuss how aggressive you and your DH want to be with the doctor and make sure all of you are on the same page.
Most of all don't be afraid to leave on your DH, loved ones, friends, and us :) because this IS a bumpy road and you will need all the support you can get Best og luck to you !!!!

Good luck!
I bet you'll feel better once you head to the RE. I felt much better knowing things were finally being taken care of and that we would have answers.

Taking that first step was very difficult for me as well..... it took me a year and a half to finally admit that we needed help.... I was in total denial. You've made the right decision. You and your DH will have some answers soon that will lead you to success!
Good Luck to you!!!!

you are doing the right thing by getting evaulated. you will be so glad you did.
there are soo many treatable conditions...and many of those your regular doctor would have never caught.
sounds like you are in the best of hands and its awesome that your insurance covers it.
sending all the best baby dust to you as you begin your hopefully very short journey with your RE

taking the first step was more a relief for me because i knew i wasnt ovulating. so it was easy to go get help!!
believe me once you have the testing done and have a plan you will feel so much more at ease. it's easy to be sad about it, but in the end that solves nothing so just look at it as a positive step towards . in the end it doesnt matter how you get there.

There are no words to fully express the gratitude I feel at the warm welcome & encouragement from you ladies.
I don't have anyone IRL to talk to about this besides DH, and most days it feels kinda like "the blind leading the blind"

Yeah, that would have made taking the 1st step easier for me too ... no ovulation = no !
I'm frustrated because I've had a positive OPK each cycle confirmed by temping on FF ... and our timing has been pretty decent too.
