Those that have sleigh beds or similar, do you also use a metal bed frame in the middle of the whole wood sleigh bed frame or do you place the box spring, mattress on top of the wood frame of the sleigh bed?

I guess to claify, the wood rails that support the mattress broke, so now my bed is laying crooked. The only way I can think to remedy this is to buy a metal bedframe to put in the middle of the wood frame, but not sure it is going to fit. Chat Icon I was curious if others use a metal frame for support or you use the actual wood frame for support of mattress.

Can you just replace the wooden rails?

I wouldn't know where to start with doing that. I believe one broke a while ago and now it is totally shot. I just bought this a couple of years ago at Penneys. My only thought was getting a metal frame to put inside, but not sure this is the way to go or if it will fit.

Do you still have at least 1 piece of wood left? Maybe take it to Home Depot and see what they recommend. They can also cut them to size for you.

Not sure how a metal frame would work. I would think the size would be off since it would being going into the wood frame. So I think it would be short on each side.

The sides are broke off and a while ago the middle wood slots broke. We only had two metal pieces going across for support but now one side of wood broke off. Love the set we bought at Penneys, but I guess it was cheaply made. I was just unsure if I can purchase a metal bedframe and leave it unattached to wood frame so I have the look of my bed, but am just using the metal frame for full support.

Of all things to deal with....Chat Icon
