Can a Straight Talk prepaid cell phone be traced?
My brother and i are having a debate about this, can a prepaid cell phone be traced? what if it's on auto fill with a credit card? He likes to be off the grid i guess and i told him it could still be traced but now im not sure.
Help me settle the debate :)

I found this, but I think anything is traceable in some way, shape or form. If he wants to be off the grid he shouldn't have a cell phone

Like tracked back to his name. he thinks is the cops needed to trace his number they wouldn't be able to get his name, i think he watches too many crime shows, lol

I think if he is refilling his minutes by credit card, then yes, when they trace the # they will get to his cc info. If he was paying strictly in cash, then no, I don't think it would be traceable back to him.

This exactly. But I'd say if he REALLY wants to be off the grid, he'd have to purchase the cell phone with cash as well. You could always track the serial number to the store, to the purchase, to his card, and back to him.

I think being off the grid is a fair question actually.
There is a concern of REGULAR citizens to right of privacy. Some take it more to heart than others.
For an answer: If he pays witha credit card for the minuites its just as traceable to him as anything else.
If he pays for minuites in cash then it cant be traced to him...short of getting phone records.
