Easels for a 2 year old
I want to get my 27 month old an easel for Christmas. I am torn between a free standing easel or a table top one. Anyone have an opinion on either?
I'm wondering if he'll prefer to paint standing up or sitting down Anddd which one will end up with less of a mess Image Attachment(s):

Re: Easels for a 2 year old
We have a free standing easle made by crayola and so far so good. Only thing is she's still small so she can only use the bottom part of the board but she will grow with it. I only let her use the chalk board for now lol.

Re: Easels for a 2 year old
We have the crayola one and I just pulled it out for my DD (20mos). SHe really enjoyed it (i didn't use paint yet but have with my older sons when they use it. I put a plastic table cloth under it). In mommy and me she uses it to paint and likes it so I pulled it out. She used the chalk side and I attached paper and she used crayons on the other side. It's a hit.
I like the standing up one - if you have room. I think the novelty of the whole standing up is fun for them.

I like the free standing easel. DS wouldn't be high enough to reach one on the table, even from a booster. I don't like the idea of him standing on a chair. I think the easel would be too big for his little Ikea table too.

Re: Easels for a 2 year old
All I can offer is make sure the one you get actually folds up for storage. I made the mistake of getting the Melissa and Doug table top one and it does not fold up. After a year it was donated to my kids preschool. I really wish it folded up, otherwise it was a wonderful easel.

DD got the Step2 easel last Christmas (she was 2 at the time). She loves it and I love that it folds up.
