I was there once. I like the atmosphere and the food was very good.

I went once with DH, but it was 7 years ago. We were unimpressed and that's why we haven't been back since.

I was there once 3 1/2 years ago. DH and I enjoyed our food. But then again, it was shortly after we got engaged, and I was "in love" , and everything in the world was great to me at that time!

Re: Has anyone ever gone to Mazzi in Huntington?
I thought the service was fine - not overly doting but we weren't ignored - and the food was great.
It is the sister restaurant to Piccolo in Huntington...if you are looking for top notch service and incredible food, go there.

What do you mean sister restaurant?
I thought the owners of Piccolo owned Mill Pond?

Perhaps they own the Mill Pond too but Piccolo (on Wall St) and Mazzi are owned by the same people.
Ristorante Mazzi, 493 Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station (421-3390), a 65-seat Italian-Continental restaurant owned by Piccolo's of Huntington, will open later this month. It is in a two-story house, a mile east of Route 110, that once was Jessie's Lounge. The owner, Dino Philippis, said the menu at Mazzi, which means together in Italian, would be similar to Piccolo's, with a few French and American dishes, including grilled squid over mixed baby greens with grilled lemon vinaigrette, house-cured gravlax with wasabi cream, rare charred tuna with mango, melon salsa and bouillabaisse with spatzle and a saffron-tomato broth. Entrees will be in the $12 to $20 range.
Joseph Ducati, the chef, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America who worked in Manhattan at the Wine Press, Maxwell's Plum, Patron's and Danal. Mr. Philippis and his wife, Marci, will be involved in the operation of both Piccolo and Mazzi, while their son Dean manages Piccolo and daughter Maria runs Mazzi.
ETA: Looks like Mill Pond was bought by Dean in 2003??

I have a feeling it was sold and is no longer affiliated with the Philippis. Dino (Dean's father) is retired. Dean owns Piccolo and is co-owner with Thomas Abraham in Mill Pond and Sweet Mama's.
That review is old b/c they're even stating that Mazzi has yet to open.
ETA: on the Piccolo website they have a link to Mill Pond, but nothing for Mazzi. They don't have a link for Sweet Mama's, but that's probably b/c it's "fairly" new and they don't have a website yet.

Re: Has anyone ever gone to Mazzi in Huntington?
We went to Mazzi again last night. We were very disappointed. The service wasn't good and the food was just OK. We were both really disappointed.
I know yesterday was a holiday (Vday), but we were probably the 3rd couple in the place. So it's not like they were crazy crowded. There were people who were seated after us that were served way before us. DH even got up from the table to complain.
We wont be going back.
I highly recommend Piccolo on Wall St. in Huntington. Great food and service with a cozy atmosphere.
