Nice Mexican Restaurant- downtown NYC area?
Any recommendations?
Something nice/upscale with great food.
Doesn't have to be way downtown, but general vicinity.

I just went to the one in Soho and thought it was just eh.
I have a good Cuban in the seaport. Very reasonable. Small intimate place and the food is off the charts.

there is a Dos Caminos downtown and a Rosa Mexicana closer to Union Square. those are the "biggies".
but there are other smaller ones that are good. We went to La Camelia for my husband's birthday this past November and I thought it was pretty good, though more recent reviews are giving me pause to recommend it.
Mayahuel (East Village) and Mole (meatpacking district) are next on my upscale mexican hit list

Thanks for the suggestions so far, ladies.
I am going to check out websites for all of these.
Meat packing district is good too. We are taking clients and it's close to where we are meeting.

is it the one behind Pier 17??
If so I totally agree with you. it lacks the ambience of Cabana but the food is top notch.
not that cuban and mexican are the same in any way lol but it IS good.

Another good cuban place (if you are ok with cuban as opposed to mexican) is called Cuba- http://cubanyc.com/cuba/cuba/media/cubarestaurant.html Its on Thompson and West 3rd I think....very good food
