First off she is too cute!!!

Now to your question, both my kids use to get a red patch on her cheek on the side the tooth was coming in on. It was also kinda dry.

It looks like she just might be to warm

no (to the tummy time thing) - we were actually at the mall when they started getting DAYGLO red....seriously. DAYGLO!!!!! She wasn't rubbing her face at all. She doesn't have a fever i believe...i'll check when she wakes up (she just fell asleep).

she's ALWAYS warm - yes....we had her in feety pj's with the top OPEN....because she sweats if we keep them closed... tonight (after her bath - that pic was taken BEFORE the bath) we just put her in a short sleeved onesie (and blanket).

Re: Rosey Cheeks

I remember those cheeks when DS had a tooth coming in. One side was always more red than the other.

Try it to yourself. Keep spreading your own saliva on your cheek for a day and see how raw you become. Chat Icon

Re: Rosey Cheeks

is it possible to be an effect of going from the cold outside to the inside... basically chaping her cheeks?? whcih when you add the drooling from teething they may have already been sensitive....

i do have to say the mall yesterday for us was hot... i walk in and the first thing i do is take his jacket off..... he was in pants and a long sleave tshirt and was soaked for his warmth in his strolller..... when he was in the carrier it was ever worse... if you have the bundle me it is goingto keep the heat in even more on the back

Mt DS has been getting the same thing on and off. He too, is not hot, not rubbing, not cold...I think the jury is still out on the issue

Re: Rosey Cheeks

My son gets them all the time especially when the weather gets cold. I put Aquaphor on them and they clear up.

Are they dry and scaly at all? My DD has this on both of her cheeks and my GI doctor just told us it was eczema. For us, it was from her milk protein allergy but it could be just from spit, cold weather, etc. He said to wash and keep her face clean frequently and to apply either aquaphor or a fragrance free lotion to keep it moist.

If she is healthy (meaning no fever etc to indicate a virus) then it is totally normal. DD#1 didn't get her 1st tooth until she was 9.5 months. She was drooling up a storm for many months before that so she had constantly rosey cheeks. The ped said it is just raw from the drool. You can put a mild lotion on it to help - cetaphil or one of the very mild ones.

Re: Rosey Cheeks

She's way too cute, red cheeks and all. Looks like teething to me--yucky diapers are also a sign.

Re: Rosey Cheeks

i just found your post to see if anyone else's DC have rosey cheeks... my son has cheeks just like your DD... it started about a week ago, he is teething as well... i guess that is it. no fever or anything... i looked up fifth disease symptoms as well this morning. doesnt seem like he has any of those, he is normal except these RED cheeks... we do go outside still and it is cold so it could be that too.....

Re: Rosey Cheeks

well - today was her first yuckish diaper. normally - with the soy - she poops and it's almost solid and it's a nice package, terrible smelling but one thing. today was NOT nice...and she (quoting dave here) is gumming like an old lady....she looks like an elderly woman who didn't put her teeth in... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i don't think it was from the cold/warmth.....she's ALWAYS warm....always! we don't have the bundle me - because i'm very worried about her overheating!

her cheeks don't feel raw or dry...but i may try the aquafor because i do have some small samples. I worry though because she rubs her face so much (and she's still punching herself)...

thank you all so very much for the replies!!!!
