Very high levels of AFP, HCG and Inhibin A on quad test, please help!
I received a phone call from a nurse at my OB's office who told me my quad test results were in, and that I'd have to discuss them with the doctor ASAP. She told me I was in the 99th percentile for AFP, free beta hcg, and Inhibin A !!!!! OMG! I was only somewhat normal in the estriol 3 category. I feel like this, my first pregnancy, is doomed and I'm so scared of what the doctor will tell me. Has anyone ever received results like this? If so, please post! Good or bad, I'd really appreciate hearing from others who have been in my shoes.
Currently, this is my first pregnancy. I'm AMA, and to date have had a good nuchal scan as well as no issues detected on the Verifi test. Many thanks in advance for any input and advice!

Yes, I had an extremely high AFP with my second baby. It was extraordinarily stressful. I really feel for you. My baby was fine, they now think the levels were screwed up bc I had a sub chorionic hematoma. I hope it all works out for you.

I had high elevated levels of AFP with my dd...I remember getting the call from my doctor who told me about my levels and said that my child most likely had spina bifida and that I needed to come in asp for a sonogram to see how severe it was...well after a sleepless night and way too much reading on the internet...my dd was fine, the sono ruled out everything and I was classified as having unexplained high levels of AFP....they monitored me closely every month with sonos to make sure the baby was growing good...
Eta...I'm currently pregnant again and this time my AFP levels were normal
Have you gone in for a sono?

I'm so happy to hear your babies turned out to be healthy! My doctor wants me to come in and repeat the test, and then have an anatomy scan/ultrasound a week later. I feel ambivalent about taking the test again, since I can't imagine the results being dramatically different the second time around? What really scares me is that it isn't just one hormone coming up so very elevated, but 3! And all sky high at that. I've been doing a lot of internet research, and I've learned that these high levels may not only indicate many different birth defects, but also preterm delivery, growth restriction, stillbirth, as well as placenta abruption, preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. I am so incredibly stressed, and worried this will not be a happy ending :(

I'm 19 weeks now. I was told that the sono, before the 20th week, would only provide limited information and that waiting another week would be better for greater details. Waiting is very hard.

this was exactly my scenario too with my current pregnancy. i freaked out for weeks before getting that sono!!!
they also retook my blood. they explained that if my AFP numbers went higher than they were when they initially took it, it was more alarming & i would need more invasive tests. thankfully my blood came back the same as it was initially & the sono looked good so everything was fine!!
