Ring doorbell question

I just recently got the Ring Doorbell 2. It picks up a lot of activity (cars driving past my house) and I know I can adjust the detection area (working on finding just the right setting). But, there seems to be a problem with it notifying me of people actually coming right up to my door - which is the most important reason for having it, as far as I'm concerned.

Last week, someone came up to the door to leave a flyer in the screen door (the handle is right next to the doorbell) and it did not register at all (I SAW the guy come up the walkway and to the front door), but it did pick up his car in the street. This morning Fed Ex delivered a package to me and again, it picked up the truck in front of my house, but nothing of the delivery person actually walking up to my door. In both instances, it did register ME opening my front door to bring the packages in. (and earlier this week I had another package delivery that I did get a notification for and it did show the UPS truck parked in front of my house and the guy coming up to the door, so it's just not consistent).

Does anyone else have this issue or have any idea how to adjust the settings to pick up those types of things? Thanks

On the app there is a motion wizard that asks you a bunch of questions about stairs and whether your door faces the road, have you tried that?

I know sometimes I will see the mailman pull up and if he sits in his truck a bit, because it only records for 30 seconds, it will cut off and not get him coming up to the actual door. Maybe that's whats happening? I'm not sure.

Ring doorbell question

We had a similar problem with our Ring doorbell. We changed the settings and it helped for awhile. Now we get motion notifications and no one is there. It's not even picking up cars driving by, I have no idea what's going on.

It seems like it has been glitchy lately since they made that upgrade. I too have a package delivered and I didn't get the notice. But what was worse was one day I parked in my driveway and went in and out to my car 3x for packages and it didn't register me once!! This past week it has been ok though.

I've only had it for about 2 weeks, so maybe it's been glitchy the whole time I've had it?

I just got a notification and it shows the UPS truck LEAVING my house, so it can't be that it doesn't record for long enough. If that was the reason, then it should show the truck pulling up, right?

I also have issues with the "live view" not working lately. Try this board on reddit for help.

This.

Last night it went off at 12:30am. I jumped out of bed and checked my cameras - nada. Even did a play back to see if maybe it just was delayed - nope.

I have the original Ring and I’ve had the same issue with it since day one. It’s very spotty.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm pretty disappointed to hear that this is a common issue. From all the glowing reviews I read, I did not expect this. Oh well.

Hard wiring wasn't an option for me. Otherwise I would have gone with this one

Hmmm....I just looked and it's ok, but not great. So maybe I'll try the wi-fi extender - although looking at reviews for that, it doesn't seem great. But I guess it'll be worth a try. Thanks
