Transportation service to Memorial Sloan Kettering
Hi Everyone- we are searching for a car/shuttle service to take a family member from LI to MSKCC in NYC. They are going to be participating in a clinical trial that would require them to be in NYC for treatment multiple times per week. Unfortunately, the LIRR is not an option. Does anyone know of a car/shuttle/medical service that would take someone from LI to NYC for these appointments?

Did you try contacting Sloan? They have a whole outpatient or patient care dept (I forgot the exact name). They might be able to give you some options. When my aunt was there in 2007, they were very helpful.

Contact Cancer Care. I don't have the contact information on me.
If approved, they provide grant money to cover the cost of transportation. This way you can take your own car, or car service and then be reimbursed for the cost.
The social worker at Sloan should be able to help with transportation arrangements and getting grant money to help pay for things that insurance will not cover.

Most clinical trials will reimburse for transportation. Check the consent form your relative signed. There is a section that outlines the cost of participating (or it could be on a separate sheet they received with the consent form). If it doesn't say anything ask to speak with the social worker or research nurse. Good luck!
ETA if it's being reimbursed you could likely use a car service

Transportation service to Memorial Sloan Kettering
the American Cancer Society provides a volunteer service to drive people to appointments. However, it seems most of these programs do not provide transportation between suburbs and the city. I know my mom had trouble obtaining transportation from Rockland County and Columbia Presbytarian for cancer treatment.
