What time is it?
Sep 19 2008 9:00AM

So, it's still dark out, I've been up and down with Jennifer all night and checking on Christina every hour or so because she is sick as a dog as the expression goes. Then I hear those dreaded early morning words coming from the spousal unit - Ron, Ron, RON!!!!!! Yes dear I exclaim! Please please take this lunatic baby, I have to get some sleep, she says. What time is it?, I ask. No reply, just my little bundle of joy trying to implant her pacifier in my eye. As I turn to look at the clock I can barely make out 5 something. I scoup up Jennifer and head for the stairs - then a not so faint voice blurts out a command - close the door! But of course sweet heart I mumble under my breath. With the door closed and now at the top of the stairs, it hit me. Not in a literal way but in a way that only a good memory from years past can recall. My little bundle of joy, the new love of my life, that little precious gift from above just crapped herself from head to toe! Just what I needed. The memories from years past of Jonathan and Christina standing in the bathtub while I removed their soiled clothes and diaper, having to rinse them down in the tub because, well you just have to be there to really get the jist of what this is all about. After 10 minutes, many mumblings, tears running down my face (from the stench) that little poop factory was once again a sweet little girl smelling like fresh flowers on the first day of spring!

What time is it I thought! Oh look at that, 5:30! Good morning I said to Jenny as she keeps kicking her feet into my stomach. Well, what do you do with a 7 month old at 5:30 in the morning when everyone else is sleeping, the eldest daughter is sick and really needs complete quiet? You put her in the play pen, take all the noise making toys out and turn on the computer to catch up on some work right? Well yes! Ahhh that lasted an entire 10 minutes when the best words in the world were uttered, repeatedly and getting louder with each little syllable - da da da da DA DA DA DA..... okay I get the point. No more play pen...

Okay what time is it? 5:45!!!!!! Now what? Think Ron think - what can we do??? I got it - breakfast! Lets see, baby cereal, bowl, baby spoon okay got it. Just heat up some water in the microwave and we are in business. Okay Jenny hold on, the water is almost done I say to try and keep her from making noise. Microwave beeps, yes the water is done. DAD I hear in a loud tone from the den. Yes Christina! DAD Do YOU HAVE TO MAKE SO MUCH NOISE???? Now all along I though I was as quiet as a mouse. Why of all days did she decide to sleep in the den when she should be sick in her own bed? I'm sorry Chrissy, I'll do my best to keep it down. I grab a bib and head for the high chair. Cereal is all mixed, now just touch some to my lips for a temp test. Temp is good, okay jenny ready? WAIT! The germaphobe is going to ask if I used two spoons as to not transmit any germs to the baby. Hold on Jenny, I have to wash the spoon. Yes, she took the first spoon full with ease. Something going right this morning - thank you! Second spoonful is in and what - she sneezes! You guessed it, all over my face. Third spoonful is a breeze! What is this? Jenny starts her morning breakfast montra - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm. Shhhhh Christina is trying to sleep and she is sick. Too late - I hear a thanks a lot dad with the sound of stomping feet going up stairs. I love you chrissy - is there anything I can get for you? Yes she says as she slams the bedroom door. Back to breakfast. Come on Jenny open your mouth. What are you laughing at? Ahhh the cat. Todays new thing is to laugh hysterically at the cat as we try to eat breakfast. Finally breakfast is finished.

What time is it? 6:20!!!! Thirty five minutes for breakfast! Oh boy! Jenny I have to check on Jonathan his bus comes in 15 minutes. I place her in the ExerSaucer! I run upstairs and all is good - Jon is on schedule. I come back to da da da da da da da and noise like you wouldn't believe. Why did I place her in that ExerSaucer? It has every known noise maker known to babies. She's bouncing up and down, pressing every button that plays a tune and continuing with da da da da da da. Well at least she knows who I am! Jon leaves for school. Jon comes back in.... oh no please tell me he didn't miss the bus! Dad, mom left the windows open in her car all night and there are animals taking refuge on the seats. Fantastic!!!!! Please chase them out and I'll be there as soon as I can. Jenny, I have to get the car keys and go outside for a minute - I'll be right back. Da da da da DA DA DA DA DA DA okay, I won't go outside. How about some tummy time? Great, she is on her tummy, playing peacefully. It's 6:30 maybe I can sneak into the bathroom for a few minutes. As I get to the bathroom door DA DA DA DA DA DA okay now what. I really gotta go. Well Liz always places Jenny in the bouncer, straps her in and takes her into the bathroom. Jenny here's a magazine to read just like daddy. Glad I read that one, it's now in a billion pieces.

What time is it now? 6:48! I remember that time so clearly now. Why? Because it's basically the time I was reaching wits end. I couldn't keep Jenny quiet, I didn't know what we could both do, quietly, at this time in the morning, I had to attend to the car outside, needed to check on Christina and I still need to eat breakfast myself, shave, shower feed the parrot and a host of many other daily chores in my routine. I got it! Put Jenny back in bed next to Liz. Jenny ate which means she needs a nap! Yippie, I have it all figured out now. Okay Jenny shhhhhhhhh we're gonna see mommy now and she wants to take a nap with you. Okay, I'm in the bedroom. Liz is sleeping. Jenny has a pacifier so she is quiet. I'll just slip her under the sheets and I'm free!

WHAT TIME IS IT! I didn't say that - at least not that loud. Yes dear it's 7, seven o'clock. And I really have to get going. I know you're with Jenny all day. I know she takes almost all your time. I know you didn't get much sleep. But you do know I love you and appreciate everything you do, right? And you do know that I too have a lot to get done and I really need to check on Christina. She may need to go to the doctor and I want to get her there early. Thank you for taking her now I'll check on you in a little while okay? I wait patiently for her reply. I love you she says and what time did you say it was....................................

The Price of a Miracle

A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet.

She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully.. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes.

Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.

She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention, but he was too busy at this moment..
Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good! Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter.. That did it!

'And what do you want?' the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice.
I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages,' he said without waiting for a reply to his question.

'Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,' Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone..
'He's really, really sick...and I want to buy a miracle.'

'I beg your pardon?' said the pharmacist.

'His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?'

'We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you,' the pharmacist said, softening a little.

'Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.'

The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, 'What kind of a miracle does your brother need?'

' I don't know,' Tess replied with her eyes welling up. I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money.'

'How much do you have?' asked the man from Chicago.

'One dollar and eleven cents,' Tess answered barely audibly.

'And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.'

'Well, what a coincidence,' smiled the man. 'A dollar and eleven cents---the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.'

He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said 'Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need.'

That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well.

Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.

'That surgery,' her Mom whispered.. 'was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?'

Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost..one dollar and eleven cents....plus the faith of a little child.

In our lives, we never know how many miracles we will need.

A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a higher law. I know you'll keep the ball moving!

Here it goes..
Throw it back to someone who means something to you!

A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end. It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends. But the treasure inside for you to see is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me.

Today I pass the friendship ball to you.

Pass it on to someone who is a friend to you.

MY OATH TO
YOU...

When you are sad.....I will dry your tears.

When you are scared..I will comfort your fears.

When you are worried......I will give you hope.

When you are confused......I will help you cope.

And when you are lost.....And can't see the light, I shall be your beacon....Shining ever so bright.

This is my oath.....I pledge till the end.

Why you may ask?.....Because you're my friend...

Signed:
GOD
