I survived 16 & 23 hour planes rides by bringing books, magazines, and watching lots of movies offered on the planes.
I mostly tried to sleep though, luckily w/ international flights they leave @ night so you can sleep (or try to ).
Make sure you get up & stretch your legs so they don't swell up like mine did.

Thank you for all the tips!! The trip going leaves at night so hopefully I will sleep but coming home it will be an late morning or afternoon flight.

I have been flying to Europe a lot lately for work. You must sleep on the way there! As soon as you get on the plane adjust your watch to Spain's time an start adjusting your bodies clock.
Sleep on the way there.
On the way home, I read books, watch movies & listen to music.
If Dh is with me we sometime play cards.

If you are into Suduko..bring that. It can keep you busy for a while. Also magazines and they have plenty of travel games.

Set your mind to "do it in incriments" .. that's what DH and I do ... If it is an 8 hour flight, when you start to get bored say "Well, we are 5 hours in, we've over half way there, that's wasn't so bad, the rest is nothing ..." You can do anything in small incriments, right? So break up the flight figuratively.

xanax, music and glamour and cosmo magazines. i have been on 23 hour flights and i always make sure to bring a neck pillow. also if i can get by, i bring knitting needles (plastic) and knit some socks.
