Adding Rice Cereal to Formula
Does anyone add a teaspoon of rice cereal to their baby's formula to make it thick and hopefully reduce spit ups. Kevin spits up A LOT, even between feedings and I've read that adding the rice cereal can help prevent that.

Yes, huge difference! Started it a bit past 2 months.
He was already on Dr. Brown's Stage 2 so I purchased the Y/Cereal nipples that they make and everything is working great.

Nate used to spit up alot. At first he was on Enfamil with Iron and then I changed him to Enfamil AR. It is made for babies who spit up, it is thicken with rice cereal already. It helped but it still didn't seem to agree with him. Finally the doctor told me to try Similac and he's been doing really well on Isomil Advanced Soy.

I have heard this works, but I would check with your doctor about starting with Rice Cereal when the baby is so young. You shouldnt have to do this unless Kevin is loosing weight.

Aidan used to spit up alot, whether BF or formula it didn't matter but I never added cereal to his bottle.
I started feeding his less ozs more often and that really worked. Even at 11 months he only took no more than 6 ozs at a time. but the spitting up definitely subsided when I started doing this.

We did long before she started Cereal. THe pediatric gasto told us too for her mild reflux.
