Cysts?
Does anybody have cysts or PSOS? I think I had one rupture last night. Now the pain is centered right in the middle. Not cramps, but more of a sharp pain. Anybody else experience this?? Oh, I went to the hospital for it in Oct. and there was nothing they could do for it. The pain isn't as bad this time...that's why I haven't called the doc.

Re: Cysts?
If you think one ruptured, you should really see a doctor immediately. That can be very dangerous. The rupture can cause leakage in to your body and I think it can be deadly.

Re: Cysts?
It's not deadly. It's really bad if your cyst leaks blood. In that case the pain will worsen, and not subside. Cysts can be really dangerous because if they rupture, your ovary can start spinning, cut blood flow off, and you can loose the ovary (from what I was told). Just wanted to know if anybody else has been through this more than once. This has been my third time. Each time it has happened after sex.

Re: Cysts?
If its alarge large cyst they will and can do a LAP procedure to remove it....My friend has had a few, she has PCOS...
But many many women's follies turn into cysts and dont even know it. Most people get a cyst instead of amature egg at least every few moths, but they are very small and when they rupture you dont really feel it and the fluid is re-absorbed. I had an issue with having two cysts rupture once, and it caused some pain for like a day or two, but it was less then AF pain...
If you feel a LOT of pain, you should see the DR right away..the fluid when the cysts rupture get caught up in the canal area and if there is too much (from a large cyst) they need to drain it....

Re: Cysts?
Cysts come in all shapes, sizes and locations :)
My friend had a cyst, that was external, right near her vaginal opening. She used warm compresses in the tub and it disappeared.
Ovarian cysts are what donna described. A cyst is often an unruptured follicle or an immature follicle. You can't feel one unless it really large, like 60mm Typically, ovarian cysts disappear on their own and are not to be confused with pcos. Pcos, is a syndrome that happens regularly, when the follicules don't rupture and form a many tiny cysts around the ovaries. Usually no pain is felt at all, because they are so small. Pcos is caused by many things, but usually insulin resistance or hormonal imbalance is associated with this syndrome.
Basically, the best thing you can do is call a doctor and get a u/s. See what size the cyst is and what type it is. Many times,....they really can't do anything for it. Draining a cyst can cause more damage. (Cysts keep reappearing). If you have reoccuring ovarian cysts, some doctors prescribe birth control pills.
In the case of pcos, just like what donna mentioned about her friend. Lap surgery is sometimes done, and ovarian drilling. Also when ovaries are twisted. Unfortunately fertility meds can cause 'cysts' and twisted ovaries. That's why being monitored by a doctor while taking fertility meds is important. :)
