How are you coping during the holidays?

This is the first Christmas w/out my Dad. My Mom wants to completely write off the holiday since it was my Dad's favorite holiday. This will be my DD's first Christmas so I want to make it special but I also have mixed emotions about it. I want to make everyone happy but this time of year is hardest on my Mom. What can I do?

I am the same way. This is the first Xmas without my mom but it is also DS first Xmas. We are not doing Xmas pics but we are going to put up a tree for him. It is so hard to plan the holidays and enjoy when my mom is not here to enjoy them with us.

I went to the cemetary on Sat and we brought her a small tree so that she would have her own Xmas tree.

we didn't have any young childern in our family - so we skipped the first year after

I would do something small- and maybe go out to eat instead of going where you normally go

This is my 2nd year without my Mom and it doesn't get any easier, I loved going shopping with my Mom and putting the presents under the tree it is extremly hard for me because my poor Mom Passed away on Dec 21, and was buried on Dec 24th Xmas Eve, so this Holiday is very hard on me. I know time goes on the pain of missing my mom will always and forever be there.

This is the first christmas with out my dad too and i am beside myself. I am having a really hard time trying to get in the christmas mood. My mother is going to put up a tree and hang white lites and ribbon on the tree. She can not handle opening up the decoration box and seeing all of the memories her and my father have had over the years. I am trying my best to put my best foot forward for my daughter but god is it tough. Sending hugs to you all this holiiday season.

This will be my second Christmas without her. I skipped Thanksgiving with my family and went to DH's family's house and now I volunteered to work on Christmas eve and day. I just can't get used to it and I feel fake when we all get together like we are forcing ourselves to believe that it's okay without her there. Nope not gonna do it. I hate that that is how I feel but I just can't do it.

This is my 4th Xmas without my mom and it does not get any easier at all. It doesn't help that the anniversary of her passing is Jan 5th either. I used to love Christmas, not I just wish I could erase December from my calendar.

I am not going to lie it hurts even though my Mom Passed away Dec 21, 2004 and buried Dec 24th 2004. That was two years ago, I don't have the spirit, everyone around me is so happy about the holidays. My brother is getting married Jan 12th and I have tohave the first dance, since my Mom is not around I don't know what music to dance to? Any suggestions? That dance will be very emotional.
