Is this happening to anyone?
AF finally came last night. I called my infertility MD to begin the ivf cycle. I was told that Dec. is a down time for them. Due to the timing of AF, I am too late to start taking the medications because they have a cut off date for this month. Now I have to wait another month. Is this happening to anyone else???

Re: Is this happening to anyone?
That happened to me over the summer.
It sucks because you get yourself mentally prepared to start the cycle then then tell you that you can't.
My RE has two down times during the year to calibrate and clean the lab, etc.
I guess it's necessary, but it's really frustrating.
Sorry you have to wait.

Re: Is this happening to anyone?
You could start a cycle late December with Lupron. This is what I am doing.
The labs close three times a year for cleaning. So about every 4 months.
It isn't all over yet,....see if they will consider a late December cycle.

yep...most if not all clinics have a down month. They usually choose December because its a low cycling month to begin with, with the holidays and stuff, people choose not to cycle...

Re: Is this happening to anyone?
It is pretty normal, they close the labs to give them an overhaul and also it is not a busy time as people choose to wait until Jan (me included) I could have started Dec but Dr. ummed & ahhed as he said he didn't want me to put body thru the drugs etc. and then retreval fall when lab is closed, so wait till Jan. Good luck with everything

Re: Is this happening to anyone?
Actually there is some federal mandate on the closing of labs, etc. If any of you go to LI-OVF and have been to the Melville office one of the exam rooms actually has the dates post on wall.
