Im such a bad mommy
Yesterday was the WORST day ever with Christopher. He was crying from 8 am till 10 pm in such pain, especially when he is feeding, which he is not finishing his bottle. I fel like giving him a new formula didnt help on top of it all, and went back to his Nutramigen. Im waiting to call for an appointment with a GI-PED. He finally went down at 10 pm and slept all the way till 6 am this morning....just waiting to see what his regular PED says, Im waiting for her call. He is now sleepin in his pac-n play on his belly, and I keep checking on him. Im so tired and feel guilt for not wating him to wake up. I cant stop crying because I cant console my own child

Re: Im such a bad mommy
Diane.... it happens. Christopher will get better.
It could be a number of things....my first guess would be the constant switching back and forth with the formula. It can take anywhere from 3 days - 2 weeks for a babys' system to adjust to a new formula. He needs time to adjsut and settle down with one formula.
Also, at some point, they do grow out of it if it's colic. It's magical when they hit this milestone of sleeping longer, eating better, being happier. Some do it earlier than others.
I hope the sleep does him good. Have you tried putting gas drops IN his bottle? Sometimes that helps as well and doing that consistently will relieve the gas. Also, I read that a warm compress on the abdomen helps to relieve gas (something about the heat relaxing the insides to help dispell the gas).
Ask your doctor about chamomile tea? I knew one mom whose ped. told her she could give her DD weak tea.....I do believe chamomile tea aides in digestion.

Re: Im such a bad mommy
The other mommies can tell you more advice then I can, BUT...I want you to know saying your a bad mommy is silly. It sounds silly and IS silly.
Nothing your son is going through is YOUR fault , none of it...
SO the frustration is that you cannot make him feel better, but dont turn it around on you and make it seem like you cant figure it out. Its not the case and is gonna make this whole thing even harder for you.
I will be praying you get some answers to help him.

Re: Im such a bad mommy
Diane, you are not a bad mommy. Don't even think that for one minute. All you want is to make your child feel better. My mom told me my brother had colic when he was a baby, all he did was cry and cry and cry. Nothing she did helped. I hope you get answers and some relief soon.

Re: Im such a bad mommy
You are so not a bad mommy! I'm sure at one time or another every mother feels horribly and the same way you do about not being able to console their own child. I had a bad night one night - where I cried with DD for an hour b/c I didn't know what to do. It's so hard at this age b/c you really don't know what they want. You are not a bad mommy and never think that - God gave you twins b/c you can handle them and you are handling them wonderfully whether you believe it now or not!!!

Re: Im such a bad mommy
well, we went to the PED and Chrsitopher has acide reflux...so not sure if I should even bother calling a GI PED, when they will tell me the same thing. He seems to be better. I added the rice cereal in his bottle, and he doesnt seem to cry as much.

Still make an appt with the GI dr, they are trained solely in this. I went to Dr Moy at Schneiders and she was great!
Don't think for a second you are a bad mommy, you are doing great with them!

What prescription is he on? Tommy is on Axid and it has worked really well in conjunction w/ the rice cereal
