did you find that cookie dough gets all caught up in the whisk beater? i tried making choc. chip cookies the other day and had to keep stopping so that i could get the dough out of there.

LOL..I thought I posted this myself!! hahah I just made 5 different types of cookies with MY KITCHEN AID yesterday!!! It was such a pleasure LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was funny though - I didn't read the directions (figuring - How hard could this be??) and I had to snap the back of the bowl in so the whole machine was like JUMPING and I thought it was broken so I had DH fix it! he's like "okayyyyyyy WHERE's the instruction manual"
eta" I made sprintz, peanutbutter chip, chococlate chip, mocha crincles and creamcheese snowmen (like a sugar cookie w/ cream cheese)

I think for thicker dough you're supposed to use the flat attachment or the hook. The whisk beater is for incorporation of air, etc...it'll definitely get gunked up there.

Yup, thats what I used; the flatter attachment (bottom left). Had no problems whatsoever. The whisk-looking thing (top left) is more for batters (cakes, pancakes, etc). The flatter one is for thicker dough like cookies. I think the arm attachment (middle) may be for breads. Image Attachment(s):

I use the whisk for mixing cake batter, and the flat triangle-like one for cookies and cheesecake. The last one I beleive is a dough-hook and I use that when mixing breads.
