How do you explain your absences
at work?
I am constantly having to leave early, come in late or take an extended lunch...and I haven't even started the IVF process yet!

Re: How do you explain your absences
I told my boss that I am seeing a specialist for something and that at times I will be in late, need to take long lunches or leave early. He didn't ask why and I didn't offer why. But he is very understanding and told me not to worry about it.

Like Amy, I have told my boss what is going on. I am friendly with both my boss and his wife so they are very understanding.

Re: How do you explain your absences
Let your boss know what is going on. I have been at a few different jobs over the years and I have never had anybody give me a problem. I have had both Male and Female bosses and both were great!

Re: How do you explain your absences
they know whats going on - they are very understanding, but on top of that I do put in a little extra when I'm not cycling. Fortunately for me (and unfortunately sometimes) I can work from home if I need too, but that sometimes includes weekends

Re: How do you explain your absences
I haven't told them what is going on. I am luckly to have 2 days during the week off, so I try to schedule a lot of my apts then. When I have to go when I am supposed to work, I just tell them I am going to be late b/c of a drs apt. My boss isn't very understanding and is not someone I want to know my personal business.

Re: How do you explain your absences
My office is very laid back when it comes to people taking off/leaving early etc. My bosses haven't asked me why I've been taking time off and I haven't offered them any information. Only one person in my office knows what is going on with me.

Re: How do you explain your absences
I told my boss I was getting treatment for a medical condition. He wanted to know the details but I told him I wasn't comfortable talking about it. I assured him it was not life-threatening and left it at that.
My office and especially my boss are so nosy that I did not feel comfortable revealing my situation to him.

I think that's what I'm going to do. We haven't even told our families that we're having probs TTC; I definitely don't want anyone at work knowing!
Maybe this round of clomid will do the trick and it won't be an issue anymore. I can dream

I spoke to my boss in private as soon as we started seeing the RE. He knew we were TTC as it was. I was honest with him bc I didnt want to have any problems.

Re: How do you explain your absences
At my old job I was 100% honest with my boss but she was also great and understanding. At my current job my boss is on her way out so I have no idea who will be coming in but I am hoping to make an appointment at a clinic 5 min from my office so that I will hopefully be able to go there early AM, lunch, etc.

Re: How do you explain your absences
I was wondering about this. I have not been able to schedule one test I need to do this month or next month due to my work schedule. My job includes a lot of public speaking, meeting attendance, and meeting organization, and there are too many days I just can't miss work.
I may have to fake illness. I think my supervisor would be fine with me taking the time off, but not taking the time off when I need to miss one of my work committments, and with the timing of some of these tests, that's just not possible.
