Resolution Tips
Just read some New Year's resolution tips that I thought some of you may find helpful. They are courtesy of Dr. Phil (I'm not a fan, but these were actually helpful). I am paraphrasing, not quoting exactly.
*What do you hope to achieve with your resolution (what's your goal)? *How will you achieve your goal? Think of concrete action steps you can take. *Make the steps reasonable to accomplish--you can spread them out over the whole year. For example, don't expect to lose 10 pounds in January. Figure out what amount is reasonable to lose each month and what steps you will take to lose the weight.
It was helpful to me to think about breaking this sort of thing down. For me, my goal is to lose weight and get in shape, but that's a vague goal. So I figured in January, I will do the following:
*Watch my snacking & work meeting eating (have healthier snacks) *Go to the gym at least twice a week to lift weights and do 30 minutes of cardio at least 3 times a week.
That's it for January. In February, I may try to add yoga or Pilates and reduce my desserts. I would also like to start bringing my lunch at least a couple days a week starting in February.
Seems like an easier way to think about a resolution. Hope this is helpful!
