That is so funny that you posted this! I was just talking to my friend about this same thing. I feel the exact same way. I watch the show and get so scared about the whole labor process. I am a big baby when it comes to pain and feel like I won't be able to handle it! My friend who is 28 weeks refuses to watch the show anymore and has convinced herself that her labor will not hurt.. Re: Is it just me... or...

I actually watch the show and even though I've given birth already it seems so surreal to me.

Some girls I want to smack upside the head b/c they are screaming and crying in pain and refuse any pain meds (to each his own). Some girls make me want to pass out like the one who asked for a mirror so she could see.......ummm, ewwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!! My favorites are the ones where they have the entire family in the room and they're all watching INCLUDING THE GIRL'S FATHER!!!! It would be a cold day before I had that many people watching me give birth, especially my dad.

However, it does make me wonder what my birth looked like - lord knows I was screaming and cursing LOL.

I did and still watch it and my son is almost 20 months old. I was scared about the process of giving birth but was still VERY curious so I had to watch anyway. Now I watch it in hopes of getting PG again soon! Chat Icon

Re: Is it just me... or...

Have you ever watched Birth Day on the DIscovery Health Channel? Now that show will scare you before you give birth. I watched through most of my pg but stopped maybe 4 weeks before my due date bc I was getting so anxious.

Re: Is it just me... or...

Compaired to the videos they showed us in Lamaze, the baby story seems not even remotely as frightening as that. They edit a LOT out.

What I always find funny about the baby story is that they'll find this couple who is really into some alternative form of pain management, like hypnosis, accupuncture, etc. The couple will go on and on about how great it is, how they are expecting not to feel any pain because they'll be in an altered state of mind from the hypnosis, or whatever, and then when it comes to birth day the woman is screaming her head off begging for drugs, moreso then the woman who said she'd use drugs if she needed them.

Re: Is it just me... or...

I watched it all the time when I was preggo and now I still do and my DD is almost 5 months old. At the beginning of my pregnancy I had such bad morning sickness. When I watched the birth scene it sent me right to the bathroom. Then towards the end of my pregnancy when I was off from work the three weeks before I gave birth it bacame part of my ruitine. I would sleep in. Put the TV on at 9 watch until 10 then get out of bed. At this point the show scared me to death. My favorite part was at the end when they show them at home. I was always thinking, ok she seems ok, she just had a baby and she could walk! Chat Icon Like it was a light at the end of the tunnel. Now when I watch it, having had my duaghter, I cry and cry whenever the baby is born. It brings back all the emotions of giving birth. As a side note- a lot of those women are very dramatic (not to say it doesn't hurt) but it can scare the poop out of you. It is not that bad, especially if you get an epidural.
