Black tie weddidng
i have a wedding in march at the woodbury jewish center. my mother tells me that it will be black tie. do i need to have a floor length gown

you definitely do not need to wear a gown!
IMO, when people put "black tie" on an invite, it's a request for men to wear a suit and for women to wear a nice dress.

I don't know - I don't really like floor length gowns on me so if I had black tie I usually wear a t-length dress or something
definitely fancy but not necessarily a gown
I think it is up to you and what you feel comfortable in - that is just my opinion
