Dog Collars
Do you leave your dog collars on in the house? I don't (though they always have them on outside). Should I? I always worry that when they play when we are not home that they will hurt each other.

Re: Dog Collars
Hm, if I had 2 dogs maybe I would take them off too. But I leave Scout's on just in case he slips out the door on me.
I take it off sometimes at night to let his neck "breathe".

Re: Dog Collars
I leave it on Gus, but it's alway loose enough for him to pull out of it if he gets stuck...I walk him on a harness, so I don't have to worry about him slipping out of it outside...but this way, if he's home or at the park playing, etc...I don't have to worry that his collar will choke him.

Re: Dog Collars
We usually leave Sandy's on but yesterday when I was getting ready for work, I was calling her and she was ignoring me, not like her
I went up to her and noticed that her nail had got stuck in the metal clip of her collar. She was crying and I could not pry her nail loose (she must have been stratching herself and got it caught). I took the collar off and she became untangled. If I wasn't home, she would have been stuck like that. Needless to say, she will not be wearing her collar when we are not home.

same here....when he plays with his toys he always pulls it off and then walks around the house with it in his mouth

Re: Dog Collars
Always. Since my house was robbed I am petrified of the dogs getting out when I am not home & having no ID on them.

Re: Dog Collars
I take it off. She doesn't try to get out and she really doesn't leave our yard if she is out. When we first got her, we left it on but she started getting a rash and dandruff so we took it off.

Re: Dog Collars
Thanks, ladies We feel safer leaving it off at home since they play rough sometimes. They are both microchipped so God forbid they get out, if they get scanned, all our info is there. It is my worst fear and I pray it never happens.

Re: Dog Collars
When we are not home the collar is off because she is in the cage, I have a fear of her getting stuck. When we are home, its on because we have to put a leash on to take her outside to go potty. We also take it off at bedtime because the jingling sound of her tags on her collar throughout the night drive me nuts!! Bella must switch sleeping positions and places 15 times a night!!

Re: Dog Collars
I've heard a really sad story about a dog accidently being choked to death b/c his collar got caught on something when noone was home. It scared the crap put of me, co I take it off.
I wish I could leave it on, b/c you just never know, but I just feel safer.
