Re: Reading Teachers
Hi..I'm not a reading teacher yet. I have my masters in Literacy hoping one day to get a job as a reading teacher. For now I'll take anything that's not Pre-K : ) ..How do you like being a reading teacher?

Re: Reading Teachers
I do enjoy it. It has its ups and downs like everything else. There are definetely times that I miss the classroom, but that will happen with everything. When I was looking for a job, the only listings I kept coming across were Reading Jobs. Good luck, and if you need any help, let me know!

Unfortunatly, I am an unemployed reading teacher. I have my masters and I am still looking for a job. Anyone know of any openings?
Thanks!

Re: Reading Teachers
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I would think it would be nice not to have a class anymore lol..who knows?? I do see many reading teacher jobs but I never know if they want anyone with experience as a reading teacher. All I have taught is Pre-K unfortunately. I did my remediation with a second grader and a third grader. What exactley do you have to do as a reading teacher (if you don't mind me asking). Is it "pull out" or do you teach reading to all the classes. I loved doing remediation but did not like all the diagnostic testing. Sorry this is so long, it's just nice to ask questions to someone who is actually doing the job
TIA!!!

This year I am in a Literacy Collaborative school. My jobis to help the children move up levels in their reading (based on Comprehension and decoding skills). This is a pull-out program. The kids come into my room.
Last year I was in another district. Even though we also worked on comp and decoding, it was much more lenient than where I am now. This was also complete pull-out.
