Re: Hi, I am New...
First, Congrats on the pregnancy. SEcond, don't worry about telling your family...you'd be surprised at how some people react, even when i's not the ideal situation.
Call your dr right away to make an appt-you'll get one probably in the next 3 weeks, and while on the phone, ask about your drinking and the cheese. I'm sure it's fine. I drank in both my 2WW before knowing I was PG and all is fine.

Re: Hi, I am New...
First off, I want to say Congratulations. I understand how you feel, coming from a strict family I can't only imagine what you are going through. As far as worrying about hurting the baby...DON'T WORRY. I went to a club 5 days before I found out, I smoked and drank practically the whole night, and my baby is fine. There are many women that go through the same thing. As for the Dr, call and make an appointment, the office will tell you when to come in, usually they tell you to wait to your 6-8 weeks which is another few weeks away. I want you to know we are all here for you when ever you need us! Have a wonderful and healthy 9 months

Re: Hi, I am New...
I come form a strict household & I got pregnant while my husand & I were just dating. And believe me I know what it's like to have the fear of telling the family. I was 30 at the time so I felt like I'm no longer a child & this is what I'm going to do. At first I will admit the response wasn't the best. But, they got over it mighty quickly!
Don't worry about the drinking & feta cheese either. I drank before I knew I was pregnant!

Well Kind of, I am from LIW, but changed my name on here. I just found out last night I am pregnant, about 5 weeks accordind to my last period. I am scared. I am not married yet and although I am not young I come from a strict religous family so telling them is going to be heart breaking. Right now though I want to concentrate on me and the baby, I am nervous because I drank the past couple of weekends, and not really taken great care of myself as I would if I had known. I also had feta cheese monday and I know you are not supposed to have that while pregnant. I am scared maybe I hurt the baby. Also when should I make my 1st dr. appointment. Sorry this is long I am happy yet really sad at the same time because i know i am going to break my moms heart by telling her this. thanks.
First off...please dont be worrying about the cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!
(there've been some many posts about pregnant people and food lately... it'll make you crazy!!!!)
2nd of all... as far as the alcohol goes... I would call the Dr. and tell him whats go on... Im sure everything is fine!!!
and lastly- I can totally relate to your story...I am young (21)I had just gotten engaged OCT 04'...I was planning a LONG engagement (an Oct 06' wedding) so I could finish school...
Well... This past January I had gotten sick with Strep...was antibiotic, and since I was on the pill, the chemicals I guess cancelled eachother out.. and in Feb I found out I was pg.
My family is VERY religious.. sex before marriage is unheard of... my mom and I had those true love waits bears and rings... and nothing was more scary then having her disappointed in me...
I called her the day after I found out.. and laid everything out on the table... EVERYONE was so supportive!!!! This was not the plan they had for my life... but we dont always control these things... SOMEONE else had a bigger plan for me..
If you need to talk Im here...I totally relate to everything you are going through...Good Luck

Re: Hi, I am New...
HI! Welcome and congratulations!!! My cousin (who's father is a preacher...) got PG before their wedding and you know what, everything was fine, they moved the date up a couple of months and no one was upset. Her parents undersood and weren't mad at her. Things happen, it will be ok.
Dont worry about drinking and feta cheese. The baby is fine. But, I would cut that stuff out from now on...not that I needed to tell you that
Call your doctor and tell them you're PG and they will probably make an appt for you around 8wks.

Re: Hi, I am New...
Welcome aboard!!
FIrst of all- don't worry about feta cheese. The only thing about cheese you need to worry about is if its unpastuerized and almost all cheese in the US is. Especially if it was from a supermarket- you'll be fine.
As for drinking- my sister had a friend at her bachelorette party who got wasted. Turns out she was pregnant (she didn't know). She has a healthy baby boy- 2 years old and is now pregnant with her second.
Finally, about telling your family- it will be fine. It may be hard at first, but babies have a way of filling everyone's heart with joy.

Re: Hi, I am New...
Congratulations - everything will work out!! Who can resist a little baby???
Also - to put you at ease I'll share my story - we decided to let fate take its course....try but not try to get pregnant - we figured it would happen when the time was right - so I didn't chart or anything...
We got pregnant on the first try - I never ever thought that would happen so when I took my first pregnancy test on Jan 1 I was shocked to see it was positive....needless to say I was pretty wasted on New years Eve...my dr. told me that at that point the embryo isn't attached or getting nutrition from me...so all should be ok. Don't worry at all about the cheese...it's really no big deal, just watch it from here on.
We are all here to support and help you. Good Luck telling your family, and please keep us updated.
Happy and healthy 9 months to you!

Re: Hi, I am New...
Congrats!!! Everything will be ok- I did worse things than drinking before i knew i was PG and my daughter came out perfectly fine. I was also very young when i got PG and i didnt tell my family until i was 6 months. Of course they had concerns, but it was nothing like i thought it would be. I wish i had told them sooner and had my family to share my pregnancy with. The most important thing is your health and happiness at this time. Good luck!!!!

Re: Hi, I am New...
Congratulations! I know that they have said this, but don't worry about the cheese and the alcohol. I drank some wine before I knew I was pregnant and my doctor told me not to worry about it. Just make your appointment now, although probably it is going to be scheduled in some weeks from now (around your week 8).
About your family... it might be shocking for them at the beginning, but your baby is going to be the light of your house and is going to be so loved for all your family.
Good luck telling them, welcome here and I wish you 9 wonderful months!

Re: Hi, I am New...
Welcome and Congrats!!
I wouldn't worry too much about the alcohol. I found out I was pg on a Monday and I had 2-3 martinis the Saturday before. I was concerned at first but I had a perfectly heathly little boy.
Unless you have a history of m/c or problems TTC most OB won't see you until you are almost 8 weeks. Call your doctor anyway to see what their policy is and to set the appt.
