Has anyone flown Air Jamaica?

I have a flight booked with them in Feb. and we have had nothing but problems with them. Then I saw they were on the news yesterday also being with a poor customer relations issue. I am getting very nervous that something will go wrong with my flight. If you have flown with them can you tell me where to and how your experience was? Thanks!

Re: Has anyone flown Air Jamaica?

I have flown with them many times to go to Jamaica and I have never once encountered any problems with them.

I am so glad to hear that! It makes me feel a lot better. We are flying to St. Lucia and this has been planned for months so I am really hoping it goes smoothly. Thanks for your responses!Chat Icon

Re: Has anyone flown Air Jamaica?

We flew them to Jamaica on our HM. Our second time we flew American, which I was much happier with.

No major problems on Air Jamaica--I am sure you'll be fine--but we left late going and coming (no weather problems), one way they forgot to put the movie on, we were passed over for food and drinks...Little things but they just seem very relaxed...TOO relaxed...Plus the seats on American were much more roomy--the seats were 2-4-2 in rows, so DH and I had our own 2 row. In Air Jamaica we were squished into a 3-person row with a large person next to us both times.

I'm sure it is safe and everything though.

Re: Has anyone flown Air Jamaica?

We flew them in July/August for SIL's wedding... they gave her and her DH a hard time with upgrades, taking care of her dress, etc... in the end, they moved them up front and all got taken care of-- but it was a headache. We however did not have any problems-- and they give you champagne on the flight.

We flew on American to Jamaica too.

You'll be fine though. Don't worry mon!

Re: Has anyone flown Air Jamaica?

We flew Air Jamaica in Oct/Nov for our honeymoon
we were upgraded to first class no problem but on the way home the flight was delayed 12 hours for no good reason, it wasnt a huge deal, we got to lay by the pool at our resort longer than we thought we would be able to
The flight attendants and pilots were super nice!!

Thanks again for everyone's help. I guess we'll just hope for the best. I know they have a lot of delays. I just want to get there!

I had a great experience on Air Jamaica. They were very nice and friendly, and we were on time there and back (though I realize the airline itself doesn't have much control over that.)

Re: Has anyone flown Air Jamaica?

I have flown Air Jamaica a few times and the last time they ripped our luggage and told us that they couldn't do anything about it. I made a huge stink and emailed the company several times (so did my travel agent) and they gave us each a $50 voucher. PErsonally, I don't love the airline - the seats are small, the food is GROSS (not like any airline food is good but this is inedible IMO) but it is what it is, and they offer direct flights to the places we have traveled so we use them.

Re: Has anyone flown Air Jamaica?

I flew them a while ago - and had a problem with them and swore I would never use them again.
Friends of mine have used them and no problems

But if you don't mind me putting my 2 cents in - find out which airport you are going to.
There are 2 (I think). One is 2 hours away from the Sandals and the other is 20 minutes away.
Try to be booking a flight to the one closer.
The trips in their buses are not fun from what I heard and their roads are not straight and alot of them are dirt roads.
Please look into this!!
