breastfeeding
I am really having an emotion problem about breastfeeding. I know how great it is for the babies but I feel like if I pump one more time, I might go insane. My DH wants me to stop because he sees I am driving myself insane. Can anyone help?/similiar situation?

Re: breastfeeding
I did my boys for only about 5 weeks. I felt guilty stopping but DH pointed out that they had already received great benefits from it. My whole day was feeding, changing, washing bottles, pumping and repeat. I did it for my sanity... it's a personal decision and you have to do what is right for you and your situation

Re: breastfeeding
I did for a month. I know exactly how you feel! I had a crying breakdown one night over it. Then I said I was determined to really do it. DH was so supportive and wanted me to stop b/c he saw how hard I was being on myself. Turned out they had a milk protein allergy and the ped recommended that I stop so that's all I had to hear. Kudos to you for doing it this long!!!!!! As for suggestions, I don't think that you should beat yourself up over it - you had TWINS - its hard enough keeping up with taking care of them, but to BF wow - I give you so much credit for sticking with it this long! I definitely think they've gotten so many benefits out of how long you've already done it.

Re: breastfeeding
My DH said the same thing about the benefits. One day I am stopping and the next I convince myself it is a bad idea. I feel tied down to it!

Re: breastfeeding
That is exactly how I felt, very tied down to it. I stopped at 6 weeks because it was really putting me in a bad mood.

Re: breastfeeding
I have been supplementing with formula, but it is the whole thing of pumping. I tried on the breast but they were feeding every half an hour or so. Could not do that.

Re: breastfeeding
I think I may stop. Its starting to get really frustrating. I think my milk supply started to slow down. I started to pump more to get my milk back up but there isnt enough time in the day to do everything.
I know how you feel.

Re: breastfeeding
I had alot of issues breast feeding. With the boys being in the NICU, and one needing high calorie formula and the other having a heart procedure and being off of food for a day or two, and the fact that my milk never really came in, I struggled with this too.
I decided that I would go as long as I could pumping as long as it was best for my boys and for me, both emotinally and physically. If you feel tied down and are not enjoying it, then personally I would stop. If you think that stopping will be too upsetting then continue.
I had pressure and comments from one of my LLL friedns who made me feel like a piece of poop that I was not trying to tandem Breastfeed and keep trying to get them latch. I also got garbage that I was making my 3lb 10 oz son who had NEC concentrated formula so he could gain weight quicker. I was told I was giving him empty calories, That pressure made things so much worse for me.
I fed them expressed breat milk and formula but I never got all that much. I did not even get enough to give one baby 100% breast milk. What if you lessen the about of times that you pump? That might help you not feel so tied down, but that you are still giving them some. I feel that even one drop is better then none, and they already got more then some other children get, so that is a plus. Also, if you lessen the amount you pump you can always start to pump a bit more to bring your supply back up, if you change your mind.
Good Luck with your decision, it is a hard one, but you ultimatley have to do what you feel comfortable doing and having twins and breastfeeding is very hard so the fact that you went this long is excellent.

Re: breastfeeding
I like the idea of perhaps pumping a bit less, so that perhaps they will only get one feeding of breastmilk. They will be getting something and perhaps then I won't feel so guilty. Thanks.
