Re: When to go for SA?

its such a non-evasive procedure that could hold so many answers, I would do it right away.

Re: When to go for SA?

We requested DH have a SA right away. He had a few, the first 2 were in the normal to low range and the more time that passed, the lower his numbers became and we found out he truly has a low count

Re: When to go for SA?

I would say over 35 ( same as for a women) after 6 months, under 35, around the one year mark.

And I would also do more then one. Sperm regenerates I think( someone might b able to correct me here) every 3 months.

DH's samples were all different.

Vitamins help a LOT. My urologist suggested always using vitamins specifically to help boost count etc and then retesting.

Also She said NEVER test within 3 months of a bad cold or virus, that affects a sample as well.

Re: When to go for SA?

Thanks for your answers - those were my thoughts, that since it's non-invasive, why not get that part out of the way now so we can rule him out. I think DH is just nervous, but obviously, this could be the beginning of some answers for us. Thanks again.

Re: When to go for SA?

My DH wasn't very gung ho on the idea of SA either. But I think often most infertility specialists will recommend that as one of the first steps because it's one of the least invasive.

He went for his after 9 months of TTC. He also started taking a multivitamin for men.

Good luck!!

Re: When to go for SA?

Thanks - yes, I bought him multivitamins for men too A WHILE AGO, and he has yet to take them. So, while I understand he's not eager to do the SA, my point to him is that there are certain thing he can do to contribute (vitamins, not drink, eat healthier).

I really believe, if there are any issues, it's probably something with my body just b/c of my family history, but it couldn't hurt for him to do what he can to help.

Re: When to go for SA?

Honestly, if your DH is in agreement as far as the TTC thing is concerned - He should be going for a SA as soon as possible. It's totally non-invasive, takes 10 minutes at mostChat Icon , and will answer a lot of questions. Mostly wether it is or isn't you. It's easy to assume that it is you, but you never know.
I wish you luck and hope that your DH takes his vitamins and goes for an SA soon.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
