Choc Cake / Ganache Q.
Ok..dont cook, wont cook but decided to try my hand at baking...more specifically my DD's first birthday cake .....a tad too ambitious I think to make my baking debut
I got a recipe from a nigella lawson book for choc cake and thought how hard could it be
I forgot to buy baking powder so did some substitution of my own - added 1/2 cup of self raising flour to the cup of reg flour - the recipe asked for 1 1/2 cups of reg flour plus baking powder...end result is a pretty flat looking cake....
Now for the icing...I made the ganache but it came out pretty runny...I think I added too much chocolate...recipe asked for cream and chocolate ....would this have caused it to be runny as I used the correct amoun of cream.
All in all my DH is laughing his head off at me as I sit here waiting and hoping the ganache sets so I can taste it...
Now I wonder where I left that number for my local bakery
Any baking tips for the novice baker?
Thanks
Ok..I have tasted it now..the ganache set a little so that is good but the cake tastes really dry...what did I do wrong?
