Re: anyone have a great goulash recipe???
yes, and it's in the slow cooker! I love it and I feed it to my 1 year old! Sounds like alot of work, but it's not!!! We make it at least 1x a month
From the Betty Crocker Slow Cooker Cookbook (8 servings) 2 Tbsp vegetable oil 2 lbs stew meat cut into 1 inch pieces (I never cut it up, I just throw it all in there!) 1 large onion, sliced 1 can (14 1/2 oz) ready to serve beef broth 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (or 1/4 tsp garlic powder if out of fresh--I've used both and it's yummy either way) 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 Tbsp paprika 1 tsp salt (I usually leave it out) 1/4 tsp caraway seed (optional, but it DOES add to the flavor) 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 cold water 3 Tbsp all purpose flour 1 medium bell pepper cut into strips 8 cups hot cooked noodles for serving
Heat oil in 10 in skillet over med-hi heat. Cook beef in oil about 10 min, stirring occasionally, until brown. Drain. Place beef & onions in 3 1/2 qt-6 qt slow cooker.
Mix broth, tomato paste, garlic, Worcestershire, paprika, salt, caraway, and pepper. Stir into beef mixture.
Cover and cook on low fore 8-10 hours or until beef is tender.
Mix water & flour. Gradually stir into beef mixture. Stir in bell peppers. Cover and cook on HIGH for 30 minutes.
Serve goulash over noodles (we use egg noodles). May be topped with a dollop of sour cream.
