New moms...

I am curious after giving birth, how long it took for you to feel yourself again - and look yourself again?

Did you find there was any point that your old clothes fit, or was your body so different that you needed all new clothes?

Re: New moms...

I feel like I have 75% of my old body back in shape by the end of 2 months- 3 months. I am alot happier with how things fit and have fit into a bikini.
My only concern now is getting my legs more tone because I grew trunks to support my big ole belly.. which was probably a good thing because throughout most of the pregnancy I was very comfortable.
Alot of my old clothes don't fit but alot of them are really old clothes since I was the same size from Hs through prepregnancy.
Edited to say.. I have been working my A$$ off also and did prenatal pilates and walked alot while pregnant and I'm 26.

I'm also having problems especially with my legs and my butt. This is why I can't get into my pre-pregnancy jeans...so I had to buy once size up. I'm also working out, but the weight doesn't come off that easy. I'm getting there....Chat Icon

Re: New moms...

It is very weird for me and I am still struggling with accepting my new body (@ 7months). In a few weeks after birth - per the scale I was less than 5lbs from my pre-preggo weight but really very little fit me - it was very confusing to me. I would say by 4/5 months most of the belly mush is gone (just a little puff left) so I started feeling better about myself but still get depressed that very little fits and it it does - it doesn't look nearly the same. (Yet the scale is only 2-3 lbs higher than before - body is reshaped). I haven't bought too much new because I am trying to hold off (just bought a few things to get by). Every month it gets a little better but I am still not where I want to be. I am use to wearing fitted clothes and I just don't feel right in it yet. So I just don't feel myself. not sure when I give in to the size up.....

Re: New moms...

I'm five months post-delivery and my old clothes fit, although my body still feels different than it was before pregnancy. I had a belly pouch to begin with, now my belly feels mushier than it was, but it actually looks better in clothes. I think before baby the pouch was lower and stuck out more below the belly button. My post-baby belly is mushy much higher up, so it looks flatter because its even. LOL. Does that make any sense at all?

Now when you say "feel like yourself" are you talking just physical or mental? I don't think I'll ever "feel like my (pre-preggo) self" in the emotional sense -- there is definitely a new self here.

Marissa is a year old and I feel like myself again but still some of my clothes don't fit right cuz of my thighs and butt also I now have a little pouch insteadof flat abs that is hard to get rid of.
