Cancun or Maya Riviera?
We're trying to plan our 1 year anniversary trip, and I'm not sure whether to look into Cancun or the Maya Riviera.
I did a search, there weren't many Cancun recommendations. Is that because Cancun is too "party like" and more for college students?
Which place would you recommend and why?
Here are a few of the things we want:
All Inclusive Ocean front room Nice beach Pools w/ bar service Plenty of restaurants for all inclusive Not a lot of kids
We're thinking of early June.
Thanks!
UPDATE: We booked a week long trip in the Maya Riviera at Excellence Riviera Cancun. I'm sooo looking forward to it! Thanks for everyone's input!

Re: Cancun or Maya Riviera?
We stayed at Paradisus in the Riviera Maya last Valentines and loved it. We chose it over Cancun b/c 1) I've been to Cancun before and 2) I wanted to avoid any college atmosphere you might get in Cancun.

Re: Cancun or Maya Riviera?
Thanks everyone!
We looked into Secrets Cancun but their websits said they had no ocean front rooms available the week we wanted.
I think we're leaning more toward a resort in Maya Riviera, since we don't really need a big party night life scene.

Re: Cancun or Maya Riviera?
with all that you are looking for, I recommend the mayan riviera and playa del carmen.
Cancun is more of a party atmosphere.
The mayan riviera is more laid back and more of a relaxing place.
The iberostar resorts are great and I highly recommended them.

Re: Cancun or Maya Riviera?
I have did Cancun for college spring break so it will always have that stigma to me. But in April we are going to the Moon Palace in Cancun anyway....looks great (palace chain and all inclusive) but not adults only - we are bringing kiddies with us. I did read reviews and said it is full of kids although I know planty of honeymooners that have gone there and loved it.
Cancun does have more nightlife if that is what you are intersted in and if you avoid spring break times of the year - it is fine for adults. I feel like if you do Cancun, you may want to do the nightlife and dinner and all-inclusive may not always be the best there.
If it is an adults only trip - I do Mayan Riviera over Cancun in a second. I did Aventura Spa Palace and loved it. Huge resort and all inclusive. Lots of restaurants and good food. The beach isn't the best but you won't miss it. You can also take day trips to other Palace resorts in Mexio if you like and they are included in the package. We also had some day trips to places like Tellum included in the hotel package. We only did one to Tellum and one of the other Palace resorts (this one had animals and a better beach and snorkeling). Does have the swim up bar and waiters bringin you drinks poolside. Also tons of bottled water all day long - never have to worry about the heat and being thirsty.
I have been to the Iberostar chain in Dr twice and love their resorts. I almost went there instead of Aventura when I went but changed our mind last minute.
On the higher end is Royal Rideaway which is suppose to be amazing.

Re: Cancun or Maya Riviera?
I went to Cancun twice and never got mixed in with the spring break/college atmos.
Then, went to Aventura Spa Palace (as Neicey mentioned) and loved it. The ONLY thing I didn't love, is the beach and I'm a beach person. The beach at the Moon Palace isn't like the beaches on the strip in Cancun either. When I stayed at the Aventura, we were able to drive 20 mins to Playa del Carmen and use the Palace resort there for the beach. We also took a trip in the other direction to Tulum.
For what you're looking for, I would look into the Mayan/Playa del Carmen area. Royal Hideaway looks amazing, although I never stayed there - but would in a heartbeat!

Re: Cancun or Maya Riviera?
Thanks everyone! The Mayan Riviera it is then!
I'm a beach person, but DH is more of a pool person, so for him, he could care less about what the beach looks like. I just want to relax and be pampered.
