Kylie dumps " Love Rat"
AFTER persistent and humiliating rumours of infidelity, Kylie Minogue has finally dumped French lothario Olivier Martinez.
The 37-year-old Australian singer, who recently declared Martinez was the "most honourable man I have ever met", issued a joint statement with the heart-throb actor confirming they had split after four years together.
"Olivier Martinez and Kylie Minogue have officially confirmed that they are no longer a couple," their management said.
"They have made it clear that the decision to go their separate ways was mutual and amicable.
"The media's false accusations of disloyalty have saddened them both.
"The two remain very close friends.
"No further comments will be made on this subject."
The couple's relationship has been dogged by persistent rumours Martinez was a love rat who cheated on Minogue.
Last week, the actor was spotted with Israeli model Sarai Givati at trendy Los Angeles hotel Chateau Marmont while Minogue was in London, where she is working on a new album.
Givati is believed to have spent at least 90 minutes in Martinez's hotel suite. The pair have known each other for some time, having spent three "wonderful days and nights" together in Paris in December.
On hearing about Martinez and Givati in December, Minogue rushed back to Europe, cutting short her Christmas holidays at the end of her Showgirl Homecoming tour of Australia.
That same month, Martinez's mother Rosemarie told Britain's The Sun newspaper the couple were "madly in love".
"Everything is fine between them," she said.
"They are working hard in their careers."
The couple then released a statement saying they were "very much still together – and very happy".
Martinez, 41, yesterday was still staying at the Chateau Marmont in LA but did not answer calls to his room.
Givati, 24, refused to comment about her relationship with Martinez when The Sunday Mail visited her secluded Los Angeles home.
Asked how she felt about possibly contributing to the demise of the couple's relationship, the husky-voiced brunette smiled. " I have nothing to say," she said. "I don't want to make any comment."
Also last week, Martinez was photographed having dinner with actor Michelle Rodriguez. The former Lost star, who has a female partner, has been linked to to him in the past.
It is not the first time Martinez, who starred in Unfaithful, has been accused of cheating on Minogue.
Since he began dating Minogue, Martinez has been linked to Angelina Jolie, Celine Balitran and Salma Hayek.
Minogue and Martinez got together in 2003 while both were staying at the Chateau Marmont.
He was filming SWAT and they met at the hotel gym. He had just broken up with actor Mira Sorvino.
They have lived much of their relationship apart, with Minogue based in London and Martinez splitting his time between Paris and Los Angeles.
There have been many media reports suggesting the couple would marry and Minogue has spoken often about her hopes to one day become a mother.
Nearing 40, she has been quoted as saying she was worried about her biological clock ticking.
Because of her breast cancer treatments, rumours have suggested Minogue had her eggs frozen ahead for future in vitro fertilisation.
She once told Michael Parkinson in a television interview that becoming a mum would be "the best thing I've ever done". But she admitted her age was a big concern and talked of her sadness at not having children earlier.
"For quite a number of years, I've looked at my parents (Ron and Carol) and they're just still together, they're still in love. They miss each other madly, they hold hands and canoodle.
"They're just the best example for me. And it slightly pains me to think that I will never have that, my chance for that has already gone."
