Any Real Estate Agents out there???

I was wondering if anyone is a broker that can give me some info on it?

How do you get started?
Can you make money?
Is the class/tests hard to pass?

Thank you so much!Chat Icon

How do you get started? I was doing some P/T admin work at the RE company where my sister is the Controller. They asked me to give it a shot, and I did... for almost 9 years.

Can you make money? Absolutely, it's not fast money, but there's definitely a strong earning potential. I worked in Manhattan (until I left for mommyhood) and I had some GREAT years and some good years. Post-9/11 was definitely tough.

Is the class/tests hard to pass? Not at all!!!! The class is just a PITA, IMO. Chat Icon

Good luck!

Re: Any Real Estate Brokers out there???

Search for real estate on here - there has been so many posts and so much good information posted to help you with your decision.

I took the RE class, but never took the state test. I decided against pursuing it after going through what we went to to sell my wifes uncles house in New Hyde park. I decided that it wasnt for me. Wish i figured that out before taking the class.

Re: Any Real Estate Brokers out there???

I juat realized that it wasnt for me. Plus my neighbor is a real estate agent and I know from him that it is a hrad business, and you work basically 7 days a week. Some months you will make no money and some months you wil get paid. but the money isnt always there.

Maybe it will be for you, but you have to see that for your self.

I am just starting out with it now. The class and test were easy.
I'll let you know about the money in a few months LOL.
I am doing it part time though, so I am not depending on it as my sole source of money.

I've been doing this for about 2 years now, and I do love it, but to be honest during the busy season I am practically on the phone or showing houses every day. If you dont mind doing the work then go for it.

So, during your busy season you can definitely say you are making money?

You do it full-time? at home or office?
