I have stayed at the El Conquistador and Palmas Del MAr. Palmas is more for families - the El Conquistador is unbelievable!

The Intercontinental Resort and Casino. Every room has a balcony, the pool was GORGEOUS and you need a bracelet to get on the beach...very private. I think I only paid 100 bucks a night. That was in August. It's about 15 minutes from the airport.

We're gonig to PR in 2 weeks and we're staying at the Intercontinental! We're going for 4 nights. (Thanks for the mini review Stefanie... I can't wait to go!)

I have stayed at the caribe hilton. secluded. good for honeymoon or quieter place.

I also recommend the intercontinental I have stayed there several times with family and DH and I took a cruise right after Thanksgiving and we spent Thanksgiving day and the next day and a half there until the cruise. It was wonderful - the pool is gorgeous - they just did a rehab, there is a nice place to eat on the boardwalk for salads, pizza, burgers and drinks right between the pool and the beach which is great for lunch while you look out at the water.
The beach is nice - it is a public beach and it is next door to the el san juan and the ritz carlton. They will bring a chair to any spot you wish. The staff is wonderful and you can walk next door to the El San Juan if you want to try one of their restaurants.
