A student called me fat today!
I was subbing for an ESL teacher, and I walk in the classroom to get one of the kids and he goes "wow your very fat". I couldn't believe my ears. I said that's not nice and sent him in a "timeout" for 10 minutes. I was embarassed, so I didn't tell his teacher. Has anything like this ever happened to you? God, children are too honest. Going to the gym now after work....

We were just talking about that with friends last night, because their kid said it to someone in a store.
Oh I would have told his teacher, so she can address it too.
Yes, kids are honest, but it's not exceptable when it's rude and inapropriate and they should learn that.

Ugh - that sux - kids are brutally honest!
As someone else said, I would absolutely tell the teacher. I don't know how old this child is, but that doesn't give someone the excuse to make inappropriate, rude, and hurtful comments to others. It could even possibly be a cultural thing, if this kid is from another country, so I definitely think the teacher should be told so she can address acceptable behavior.

I think the teacher heard him say it, I was in her classroom. I probably won't be back in that school, as I got a new and better job, but still it was annoying.

to be fair, it was an ESL student, maybe he wasnt aware of the language that he used. i would address it to the main teacher. I teach ESL and when i taught body descriptions i always teach what is nice and what isnt nice to say to students. with any topic, i always correct them if they say something awkward or rude.

He was an LD student not an ESL student. I guess she does both. He just seemed like a wild kid. oh well.

Kids are brutal! Whenever I have a pimple, a chalk stain on my butt, a stain on my shirt from lunch that I must have missed, etc... they love to point it out. Try not to take it personally.

dont worry my pre k kids always point out my pimples! its very hurtful even though they dont know any better so i feel your pain
