To test or not to test
My official blood test following my transfer is on Wed. However. I would like to take a home pg test tomorrow night to prepare myself.
DH is against this, feeling that if I get a false positive/negative, it might send me over the edge. My thinking is that I will be at work by myself when I get the results. If it is a negative, I will be somewhat prepared from the home test and won't be as devastating.
Any thoughts??? What would you do??

I 100% wanted to test at home on MY TERMS. I couldnt imagine if that call from the dr was a BFN. I would have really died. I knew at home I could cry and scream and feel like it was my own control over it. A false negative is too rare and a positive will be positive...A beta number is gonna help with a BFP realization of course, but its more then BFN I was afraid of.

I have not done IVF, just IUI. I did a home preg. test, just because I wanted to know what was happening on my own terms. My test was negative. However, my blood test from Doc. came back positive.
POAS if you want, but remember it may not give you a true reading.... best of luck to you!

My first IVF I did a home test and it was accurate.
This time around, I figured I would only have to be disappointed once, so I didn't test.
You need to do what is in your heart! All the best!!!!

If you decide to test, you may want to wait ans use the first morning urine. The hcg is more concentrated then. Good Luck!!!

Me personally, when I had my 5th IUI, I tested at home before my beta. I didn't want to be unprepared for the phone call. Well...my home test came up BFP and I ran to the RE for my beta...when they called to confirm I was exstatic.

after my ivf transfer, i didn't test and was beyond shocked when the doctor called me to say bfn. i was on my way from work to grad school and just about to walk into class when he called. i was totally thrown, because i was confident it had worked. i will never forget that drive home from school, thinking i was going to die.
after my fet, i tested (like 700 times), because i wanted to be prepared and i wanted to be at home for the news.

I've pondered the same question for myself after my iui, and I agree with some of the other ladies, I'd just want to prepare myself for news, good or bad.
