Re: Anyonce cooking on Valentine's day for your SO?

I need ideas also! So far I only have dessert! I am going to attempt to make those chocolate "molten lava" cakes (they are a small chocolate cake with a liquid center - yuuuum).

I *might* try Filet Mignon... not too sure though. The last time I attempted to make it (using Rachel Ray's recipe) it was just ehhh.

I would love to get Filets and King Crab Legs... Yuuuuuum!

Actually, he's cooking for me Chat Icon

It's my favorite. He makes raviolis w/ the most delicious tomato sauce. He adds creamcheese to it (and chopmeat) and its like heaven.

Thankfully, I try and eat this once a year.........Chat Icon

I am, but not sure what I am going to make. I think I might make something light like fish for V-day (since it's during the week and we hate eating heavy) and then maybe something richer for the weekend.

I've made this recipe three times to absolute ooohs and aaahs.

Warm, Soft Chocolate Cake
From chef and author Jean-George Vongerichten

Ingredients

4 fluid ounces butter, plus a little for buttering the molds
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, preferably Valrhona, chopped
2 eggs
2 egg yolks
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons flour, plus a little more for dusting

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray four 6 oz. ramekins with Pam cooking spray.

1. In the top of a double boiler set over simmering water, heat the butter and chocolate together until the chocolate is almost completely melted. While that’s heating, beat together the eggs, yolks and sugar with a whisk or electric beater until light and thick.

2. Beat together the melted chocolate and butter; it should be quite warm. Pour in the egg mixture, then quickly beat in the squares, just until combined.

3. Divide the batter among the molds. (At this point you can refrigerate the desserts until you are ready to eat, for up to several hours; bring them to room temperature before baking.)

4. Bake the molds on a tray for 10-12 minutes; the center will still be quite soft, but the sides will be set. Let cool for 1 minute.

5. Run a knife around the edge of each cake; cover with an inverted plate & turn over. Let sit for about 10 seconds.
Serve immediately.

I bought DH a freezer full of Omaha Steak things for Valentine's Day.

Dh took me out over the weekend for valentimes day to The Fisherman's Catch in Point Lookout, it was so nice!

SO simple, all I do is slice vidalia onions and put them in a pan w/ a little olive oil and butter, salt & pepper. The key is to cook them a long time so they get really sweet & turn a golden brown,

Which restaurant are you going to?

Although we've gone to the same restaurant every year for V-Day, DH wanted to try a new restaurant this year. We're going there on Saturday. My plan for tonight was to either pick up filet mignon or some type of fresh fish today at a place near my office (DH does not like the meat and fish selections at the grocery stores near our home). However, the weather is really bad here and I decided to work from home. I doubt we'll cook a nice meal tonight. Chat Icon
