I am a NYC teacher..Although I am going to try to get a job in LI I am not sure if its going to ever happen. My school is not the greatest and I am thinking of transfering while the transfer period comes around in March-April.
Anyone like where they work in NYC and know there will be positions for September?

what subject do you teach? Are you checking the NYtimes and the schools online websites?

ALl I can tell you is that if you are a new teacher it is harder to get a transfer . It is always hard to transfer in NYC schools especially to a good school. Good luck.
What do you tach? If you are willing to teach in Hempstead schools I can pass your resume along to my principal.

The open market system has made it easier- now seniority means very little, which stinks for people with more time in, but it's good for newer teachers. A lot of principals prefer newer teachers for lots of reasons, but you do have to do your homework.
Insideschools.org is a great site to look at. It sends people to visit the schools, and write objective reviews. Parents, teachers and students can also submit anonymous reviews, which is great because it helps to round out the picture.
