Re: cat teeth cleaning.....
I've never had it done, but my vet told me not to feed the cat or dog wet food, only dry, in order to keep their teeth clean.

Re: cat teeth cleaning.....
Yes many times with both cats. I would recommend it, I know it is expensive, but if a cat's mouth becomes very sore they will stop eating and their little systems shut down very quickly. So I would say go ahead & do it.
They will have to give your cat anaesthesia to perform the denistry so make sure that he has someone with him when he gets home as he will be a bit wobbly. I think the drugs they give them are what makes it so expensive!
My 2 have something called stomatitus and have had numerous teeth removed - Chablis only has her eye teeth and tiny little teeth in the front left. Believe it or not she weighs more now than before and can still eat treats & dry food. So I have had a lot of visits to the vets with dentistry! They are both 10 and in great health!
Good luck, he will be fine & feel much better for it.

Re: cat teeth cleaning.....
Can I ask how much it is? I know I'll have to do this with mine eventually.

It really depends on the vet practice & what they find when they get the cat in & take a look.
I just got out my last bill & I was charged:
Pre-op blood screen:$65 Dental: $155.00 Fluid Therapy:$63.00 Medical Waste Disposal:$2.75 Tooth Extraction: $48 Antibiotic Injection:$25 Pain Injection: $12
So the total was $375.75 - But she did have to have a tooth extracted & the remainder cleaned. They didn't charge me for the drugs they sent her home with.
I would call your vet & ask - they should give you a price range - mine does eg: cheapest it will be to the most expensive, sometimes it is the cheapest, but usually somewhere in the middle. I like that they do this cos then you don't pass out when you go to pick up kitty & they hand you the bill!
