Did J Lo Make a Makeup Mistake?
Jennifer Lopez is one of the most beautiful women in the world. But many of you eagle eyes out there have told us that in pics from this weekend at the Bordertown premiere J Lo looked like she had seen better days.
So we took it to an expert to weigh in on what the usually flawless Lopez might have done wrong.
LA-based celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman tells Usmagazine.com that J Lo is still a stunning beauty, but, at 38, the still-sexy actress/singer/businesswoman needs to go a little lighter on the eye makeup -- and a lot lighter on the lighting.
Q: Did her makeup people make any mistakes? A: This is my take as a makeup artist. It looks like our classic J.Lo that we love. She’s a 38-year-old woman, but this is just bad lighting. So rather than saying she looks so bad, it’s like, "How bad was that lighting that J. Lo doesn’t look good in it?"
Q: What should she have done differently? A: I think she looks great for her age, but she’s not going to have 25-year-old skin. I think it’s mostly about the lighting and she’s making an odd face in that shot. No one would look good.
Q: Is it possible that wearing too much makeup makes you look old? A: Yeah, you do want to go a little lighter. Makeup-wise, I might say, moisturize under the concealer, Use something with a little silicone base that moves with the skin, that won’t have settling in the creases.
Q: Is that how she could’ve avoided this? A: Yeah, it’s something that every woman can do.
Q: Any recommendations how to avoid this look yet get the proper coverup? A: Just using sheerer makeup, something that has a silicone base to give with the skin is a good way to sort of tone things down. Spot covering – maybe not using a full base. Just use a sheer base and then just covering any imperfection or flaws or discoloration with a small brush and concealer might be helpful. A product I’d suggest is Dr. Feel Good by Benefit – it’s a really good silicone-based base so it helps stop things from settling into the lines and helps makeup feel more fluid and flexible.
