Re: bail enforcement

like a bounty hunter?

working for a bail bondsman to look for people who have jumped bail?

I would say it's pretty dangerous work- watch Dog the bounty hunter on A&E

yeah, something like that. I heard they don't like to be called "bounty hunters" or something like that. i was wondering what cops thought about that profession. The ones I have asked thus far have had no opinion either way.

Re: bail enforcement

there was a show on HBO 2 or 3 years ago with a company from NY

Family Bonds- there were basically going into the housing projects at night and looking for people that they bailed out and they didn't go to court

unlike cops- they can not shot someone and get away with it- the main guy on the show has been to jail after he killed someone during a bail recovery

they have nothing to do with the police

That's actually quite interesting...so they aren't as free to defend themselves as a police officer would be then?

And I guess it's a misconception that doing this would actually HELP them get on the force?

Is that why the show isn't on anymore? That family lives in Patchogue. My GF MIL lives behind that family. Their backyards are back to back.

no- this happened at least 20 years ago- it's why he never carried a gun- he can't

I really liked the show- I hope they bring it back
