Weekend in Vegas
How much should I expect this to cost per person?
I know it's a very broad question because it depends on where you stay, how much you gamble, etc but can you share how much it cost you or what I should expect? TIA!

Re: Weekend in Vegas
we went last year for a friends wedding- we went for 3 nights ( got there thursday, and left on sunday AM). we ended up getting a good deal for hotel room and airfare for about $500 a person on orbitz.com- so that was $1000 and then probably another $700 or so for food/gambling. we're not big gamblers at all so if you are, count on spending more than that. also, we did food pretty cheaply- ate a lot of sandwiches and stuff, and one of the meals was at the wedding, so that saved us a little bit, too.

Re: Weekend in Vegas
It all depends, like you said. We went last April Thurs - Sat night and stayed at the Luxor, it was about $500 pp - DH and I did pretty well gambling so we probably spent about $300 while there.....but we're not big gamblers. - If I'm up $50 on a slot machine I cash the thing out !!
This April we're going Tues - Fri and staying at the Wynn so it's about $700 pp (But it's also during the week)
We usually figure on spending at least an additional $700 while there. - We don't really eat a lot thougout the day - Maybe grab a sandwich midday or something like that - but we like to do a 'nicer' dinner each night and we also drink. -

Re: Weekend in Vegas
I stayed at Mandalay Bay a few years ago over Labor Day weekend for 5 nights. Flight + room was around $1200 pp.
It was $$$ but I had a GREAT time!
ETA: Spending $ really depends on how big of a gambler / drinker you are.
There is SO much to do / see in Vegas that I didn't spend much gambling (maybe $100 the entire time) and ended up winning $500 the last day!
I booked Cirque de Soilel online before I went, and we went to a typical Vegas variety show. If there is something you really want to see I definitely recommend booking before you go!
Good luck and have FUN!!!!!!!!

Re: Weekend in Vegas
It depends where you want to stay and what kind of meals you want. I think the Excalibur on the strip is the cheapest hotel, Treasure Island is also pretty inexpensive.

Re: Weekend in Vegas
I can't help you so much in terms of hotel rooms, both times I've been we've had the rooms comped. As far as dining, you can eat anywhere from Denny's for breakfast (we did this a few times), to 5 Star resturants in the hotels. You really can make your own budget. There are places and prices for everyone.
If you are looking for the $9.95 steak dinner, you'll have to go to downtown Veags. I suggest you go down there anyway. You can gamble for next to nothing ($5 craps at Binions), you can get a nice lunch for around $10 pp and drink in the streets. It's a lot of fun and an inexpensive day.
Not sure what you like to play, but the hotels on the strip will most likely be $10-$15 minimums during the day and $15+ at night. You can always set your own daily limits.
I also suggest getting show tickets before hand. If you do some research on the internet, you can get some great prices. Shows can run any where from $29 - $250+. Depends on what you want to see. I've been to comedey shows, variety shows and Cirque. Honestly, any show you go to in Vegas will be great. It's the entertainment capital, you won't be dissapointed.
ETA: Alcohol won't cost you anything if you gamble. And it's not like AC where they give you drinks in plastic cups either!!
Also, there are great places to see like Red Rock Canyon, etc.

Re: Weekend in Vegas
hmmmmmm
it depends on sooooo mcuh.
when youre going.... where youre staying.... how long youre staying.... if you gamble....
give me more to work with.
$2000 is MORE than enough for 2 people for 3 nights.... so if you have $1000 a person you should be fine.
for example: my and dh are going in april. we arrive april 8th. staying 3 nights.. we're staying at the Hard Rock which was only $330.
so now we just factor in the flight and how much we want spending money.
we arent big gamblers so we give ourselves $400 a day... together. so, thats $1200 spending plus cost of hotel ($1530) and airfare..... so that brings us to just over $2000.
hope this helps??? let m know if you have any questions. we've been going every year for 3 years .
eta: i think we're bringing $2500 with us this time.

Re: Weekend in Vegas
oh, just wanted to add...
me and dh dont go to shows. we usually catch a comedy show only, but no fancy pants shows.... we are also BIG drinkers and spend alot of our time in different bars when there, so keep in mind thats where alot of our money goes. some bar/clubs have covers... we dont really go to clubby places like that but Copyote Ugly did charge us $20 each to get in and was not worth it. we also like to go to a nice dinner every night when there. (Crafsteak, Top of teh World, etc) but now we dont eat meat, so not sure where we will be dining.
its a great time.

We went to Denny's everyday for breakfast because my DH is a Denny's freak.

Re: Weekend in Vegas
an approx for me would be:
$150 per person per day for food (you can do big brunch buffet and dinner - or grab pizza for lunch and do a nice dinner)
$300 - per person per day gambling
$100 - per person per day for shows
$100 - per person per night club (incl: drinks and covercharge)
$150 - per person per excursio (should you choose to go atving or grand canyon or something)
anywhere from $250-450 per night per room
$50 - per day per person for misc
That would be my approx from when I went - give or take a few.

Re: Weekend in Vegas
Thanks everyone - very helpful!!
Jes - I don't know where we would be staying...I'm just starting to do some homework so any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated.
We would be going in mid Sept but possibly Labor Day weekend. Max 3 nights more than likely it would be 2 nights.
We can certainly drink, we'd like to hit a couple of clubs/bars, if not more than one. But we are not big gamblers at all. I can't see myself spending $300/day each gambling AT ALL...maybe $100 each. We would definitely be up for a nice dinner... maybe a show too.
Captain...I am awaiting your reply

If you are going during Labor Day it will still be very hot so I recommend staying at a hotel that has a nice pool. My fav is Mandalay Bay but it is $$$$ I heard MGM has nice pools and is less $$.
