Being out sick
Am I the only one who HATES staying home sick as a teacher? I'm in bed with either the flu or a REALLY bad cold and I am hating the fact that I'm home. It's just so much more work for me and I get all stressed out about it.

Re: Being out sick
I totally hear you - I felt like sh*t today and had to stay at school for almost an hour after the kids left to do sub plans in case I am sick tomorrow - and the thought of not being there stresses me out even more!

Re: Being out sick
It really is easier to go in - leaving plans is such a PITA!
If I'm feeling reeeeeeeeally crummy at work, I'll pop in a video or give the kiddies some fluff work to do (word-search, creating a picture dictionary for the vocab we are working on, etc...)

I'm with you on that one! Although I like being at home, it's such a pain to come back to!

Re: Being out sick
Unfortunately, I have to take a lot of "sick" days, since I have two kids who both tend to get sick a lot, and with things that are not typical. Luckily, my district allows us to take sick days for family members' illness, but I always feel really guilty when I feel fine, even if one of my kids is sick. Fortunately, I often know I'll be out for doctors' appts. and can do plans in advance. I HATE the unexpected absences when I have to do all the planning from home!!! Fortunately, I have awesome colleagues who will help out with planning, making copies, etc. when I am out unexpectedly. Gotta' love those colleagues!!!
