Re: Chicago suggestions?
Go to the John Hancock building and have a drink in the Signature room at night. You can see all of Chicago. It's beautiful.
Navy Pier is awesome, but probably a very cold walk.
Millenium Park has this titanium bean. It is soooooo cool looking. You can stand in front of it and take a picture of the Chicago skyline in its reflection!!

Re: Chicago suggestions?
arnivale - Mexican/Latin - Don't know the website but I think this would be a great place to go for sure. It's located in River North area I believe.
Japonais - Upscale Sushi (www.japonaischicago.com) located River North-ish
Shine - Sushi/Chinese - my personal favorite (www.shinemorida.com) located in Lincoln Park. CANNOT go wrong here - prices are awesome, area is great, restaurant is very cute, etc.
Wildfire - Steakhouse but not your typical Gibsons/Smith & Wollensky, etc. They have a great 3-steak tasting thing that I always do when I go there and it's awesome.(www.wildfirerestaurant.com) Located downtown.
Scoozi - Italian, don't know the website but it was pretty good and prices were amazing ($90 and we had 2 apps, 1 salad, 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 1 coffee and 1 dessert) Located downtown.
Bistrot Zinc - French/American - great neighborhood spot and food is real good. A toned down version of Balthazar. Don't know the website. Prices were decent, not cheap but not over-the-top
El Jardin - now, this isn't the most glamorous Mexican place in the city, but it's like 2 blocks from Wrigley Field. There is El Jardin Café and then there is a restaurant like 2 blocks from it with a great outdoor seating space. Margaritas are great, salsa is one of my favs, etc. This would be more of a local thing to do, again, not 'super trendy'
Piazza Bella Trattoria - Italian (located in Roscoe Village at like Roscoe and Hoyne), SUPER good, very cute little place. It's definitely good for a more intimate dinner vs. out with friends. This is a neighborhood place, too, so gives you a good feel for Chicago.
Tango Sur - Argentinean -It's BYOB (they don't serve alcohol), they have an awesome outdoor seating area and the neighborhood is great. http://www.tangosur.qpg.com/
My all time favorite is a tapas place in Lincoln Park - Cafe Babareeba. I go there EVERY time I go - sangria is awesome.
Of course, reservations for most of these places will help.
