Secondary Ed. Interview Question
In the past few weeks I have been to many screening interviews. The one question that seems to pop up a lot is "What grade would you like to teach?" How do you answer it? I would take any grade!!! But they want to know what grade and why.
Does this ruin your chances of getting a job if you say 10th and they are looking for a 7th grade teacher or vice versa?

Re: Secondary Ed. Interview Question
I have also been asked this question. I am honest and say that I love middle school but then go on to say something good about the other grades I have taught as welll. For the "why" portion of the question, I tell them that I had an amazing experience in the middle school and that I made lasting relationships with students who I now have in the high school. I think this shows them that while I have a preference, I am capable and willing to do both. All of my experience this year has been in the high school and of course my resume reflects that.

Re: Secondary Ed. Interview Question
I always say that it is too hard to compare the different levels because each has its own unique "culture" and than babble about the maturity of the upper classman and the innocence of the middler schoolers.
I have always done very well at interviews
